I think the risk/reward with Mario is low. Even if it doesn't work out, you know he and the former players who will galvanize around him will put an extraordinary pressure campaign forward to get the program to a more competitive place structurally and financially, which will help us make organizational progress. We are close. It's more of a firmware and software type situation than a hardware one. We have the IFP and the Schwartz in place already.
You also know that even if he fails he will most likely leave the roster stocked for the next guy too.
I also think Mario is a self-interested career-minded warrior who won't take the Miami job because he's smart, realizes its a step down from where he is, will have 10x the pressure, and if it doesn't work out will create an awkward relationship between him and his fellow UM alumni as well as with his home town and friends for the rest of his life. I think he's too smart to expose himself that way.
