Breaking down local Miami OL targets

Herbert for sure isn't a plug n play guy based off of his strength. But he could be a solid guy by year two. Only thing is I don't like his feet..but he could have shown improvement. He has what I call duck feet. But if we flip I wouldn't mind.. with hillery, and Donaldson those are some athletic guys at tackle

Prop Joe, what are your thoughts on Slaton? Just by that picture of him alone he looks like god made him to walk this earth to be a prototype Guard. He isnt getting many rave reviews from that article but the recruiting services seem to think he is that deal. I thought he could be in our two deep immediately but I guess he is a project which we dont need anymore of. (See Bar Milo as a reference.)

Is he just lazy? Doesnt have that dog in him? He is bored?

He definately has that DOG. Kid is about to fight someone every game. Lol. Plays some defense for Heritage the last two years. Has a little bit of laziness to him..but most hs kids do, especially when they are going against kids that are shrimps. I liked him more than Herbert. Not calling Herbert sorry or anything but he is more of a finesse, lt type. Slaton is built like someone said like Kendrick Norton..he actually has less of a gut. Slaton is built like a college lineman as a junior. I think he can come here and if he gets the plays down can plug in and start eating minutes at guard by the 3rd or 4th game.

The issue we have is that we have an abundance of guards it seems and not so much at tackle..that's where Herbert and Telfort can be a factor as they are definately tackles.

What about
Jones
Loftus
Mahoney
Milo

Lol

I'm not ready to write off Milo yet, he was pretty decently ranked coming out of HS. Most OL are not ready to play coming out of HS and this is just his 2nd year on the team; I would keep him. The rest though............lol

I want all 4...Slaton, Herbert, Telfort and Donaldson

Take these 4 and 1 of Hillery or Dykstra

A+ OL Class

Next Year:

LT - Brown -- Telfort or Odogwu
LG - Mcdermott -- Herbert -- Dykstra
C - Linder -- Gauthier
RG - Darling -- Slaton
RT - Donaldson -- St. Louis -- Hillery

Totally Revitalized OL

I like how a few of you guys are pegging Brown as a starter at LT when he was riding LSU's bench lol

Ok? So what's your answer then? Only reason I slot him in at LT is because someone new. Needs to step up. I believe Donaldson would be best on the right side if we get Herbert. Herbert is a full on LT but unless he comes in early I don't think he will be ready just yet. Brown buys us time to transition to him if not then we need to find someone to take care of the QBs blindside until Herbert is ready.

Next year Darling probably still starts at Lt. I don't think a freshman is going to step in and take it from him unless they are EE. Brown has the best shot if they have him on the left side., and if they just want him to slide in to replace Isadora.
Our guys just have to get better point blank. Having guys like McDermott and Milo slide inside didn't help as we're a team full of guards rght now..I also think Darling plays too high to be an effective guard.

we need to run it like SEC DOES have 100 scholarship kids. Than prior to season grey and transfer out the ones that don't cut it. This OL needs a full purge on those who belong here and those who don't. I honestly would take 5 to 7 this class .. The ones we are not pushing for like Chandler are better than some on this team already.

do people realize how good a kid has to be to start as a freshman on the oline?
True...

But, what you might be missing is the fact that our OLine is so terrible that we'll likely end having to start 2 or 3 Freshman's on the line.

Most of our OL is playing out of position, we have Guards playing Tackle... So it's not that far-fetched that we'll be starting some Freshman next year.

Are any of the OL commits or targets early entries? Besides Dykstra?

If a kid is a EE , then he gets 8 months of work before the season. Not a true freshman IMO .

Had to go hunt down this thread down, one of the better ones from early in season about a couple of our olineman. Was confused which one was the more highly regarded of the AH lineman. Might as well bump it for others who missed it.

Dont know who is dealing with maintaining the site but whoever is while fixing it for signing day hopefully you can also fix the search function as it is broken and i had to manually search this out. I dont pay 75/mo for nothing. Thanks in advance!
