Breaking down Diaz

LuCane - sorry that was for Ericht.

The 3-3 fire zone isn't completely spot dropping. The players are expected to read the hot receivers and are taught how to drop with them. They don't run with them though, so the issue is when the blitz gets stuffed and the QB has too much time.

If you watch the LSU or TAMU games from this past season, that's what you'll see. Essentially, TAMU ate up MSU's pass rush and things were generally ugly. We reviewed both games over the weekend. It's partly the reason I said the success of the Diaz hire is really more about Diaz + Kul. Diaz's guys HAVE to get there, or else. It's somewhat scary considering that our guys don't use their hands very well up to this point. If you suddenly see DL killing OL with their hands, send Coach Kul a barrel of whiskey.

Also, we need our Safeties to flash range.

The key is getting negative plays on first down, open field tackling and getting the QB uncomfortable in the pocket.

Also one of the big problems this year for Miss St was turnovers in their own end and only having 26 mins TOP. That's 8 more mins than what Wisconsin had to deal with.

Agreed. It begins with Kool's unit. We must get consistent pressure from the down four.
