Pete reported this was coming.

Brad's mother

@angela_means: Brad received offer from Mora today. UCLA is an awesome program that he respects, at this time he is committed 2 The University of Miami.

It might mean absolutely nothing but the wording of that tweet kinda sucks.

I remember both the young man and his mother being vehement about him being absolutely committed to Miami. Let's see if he sticks by his word.

By the way, her last tweet before that:

@angela_means: Fri nite my Eagles going to whoop those knights. Sat. afternoon my Canes going to whoop those yellow jackets! Have an awesome week!!

BREAKING. YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST: Kaaya offered by UCLA. Xavier thinks this is a power move by the hometown team. Could be a legitimate threat to steal the QB with the high motor and great work ethic. Kaaya is a gym rat. Gritty. I (not Pete), spoke with his mother at length a few months ago regarding her son. Canes to lose. #IStandWithTheU #Bagels

Fact is as a mom if she can have her baby closer to home she'd love that but also wants him to be somewhere that she can trust the staff, the players and trust that he will be happy where he goes. Now I also think of aaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllll those months where none of those local schools showed love and I think Kaaya **** sure remembers that too

really don't like that "at this time" comment. Could have very easily said "we are flattered, but its all about the U!" I'm not panicking, but that tweet is certainly not reassuring.

The distance between any city in California to Coral Gables........... huge difference so the dream scenario for mom has popped up so her baby can be close to home so she'll leave the door open just a little at least

Most people do not have a team of advisors vetting their tweets before sending them off. I would not read too much into it.

Also, all of us always rip on guys for not playing for their hometown team or dream school because it's usually Miami then they go somewhere else. As of now the kids a cane commit and lets hope it stays that way but give him time and space. We know it better than any other program that there are bigger factors than distance and dream school.

Actually, Pete didn't say this was coming. Pete told me in another thread that UCLA had already offered him. I disputed it, but I assumed he might have had better information than I had.

His mom pulling out the "at this time" nonsense is weak after the exhaustive commentary she gave Pete in that epic interview.

Football: QB Brad Kaaya is offered by UCLA

After weeks of speculation, UCLA has come forward and made a scholarship offer to Chaminade quarterback Brad Kaaya.

Chaminade Coach Ed Croson brought Kaaya to his P.E. class on Tuesday and they called UCLA Coach Jim Mora, who made the formal offer to Kaaya on the phone.

Kaaya has been a longtime commit to Miami, but UCLA's offer will get consideration.

"Any kid in Los Angeles would be interested in UCLA," Croson said. "He's firmly committed to Miami, but I think he's flattered."

UCLA offers four-star QB

Edward Lewis
BruinSportsReport.com

UCLA extended an offer to four-star quarterback Brad Kaaya Tuesday afternoon, his mother told BruinSportsReport.com.

The 6-foot-4, 213-pound QB is currently a Miami commitment, but the possibility of a Bruin offer has loomed large since the spring. And finally, after head coach Jim Mora and quarterback coach Taylor Mazzone went to see him play Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian two weeks ago, the offer came.

With a huge game on tap this weekend that will pit Kaaya's West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade team against Sherman Oaks (Calif.) Notre Dame, Kaaya has vowed to stay off Twitter and presumably to reject interview requests about his recruitment this week.

His mother, however, did release a statement regarding the new Bruin offer.

"Bradley Kaaya Jr. received an offer from Coach Jim Mora to play football for UCLA this afternoon," the statement read. "Bradley said although UCLA is an awesome program that he has respected his entire life and continues to respect, at this time he is committed to The University of Miami."

Kaaya committed to Miami in early May. His teammate, three-star DB Joseph McIntosh, is a UCLA commitment who has said repeatedly he'll work on flipping the big quarterback.

If he decommits, I can give my full thoughts on the interview his Mom did with Pete.

Picturing Mora's dad:

"Kaaya?! Kaaya?! You think you're getting Kaaya, Jim? Are you kidding me?!"
