Bowl game- opt-out vs playing

So he should be able to talk guys out of saving their bodies for the NFL paycheck......something you say they have the absolute right to do.

1. Players act like they don't care about the game - "that's on the coach".
2. Players opt out, proving they don't care about the game - "yeah they shouldn't risk injury"

Can't have it both ways.
 
What I would do for us to be playing TN in the Orange bowl. We need to get back to the bowl games meaning something.

Some coaches can or they can at least try. While others don’t care or want the kid to do what’s best for them. You think most coaches want a 1st round pick playing in the Gator bowl when they can use that kid as proof they’re good at their job if they get drafted that early?

Again, we're not talking about 1st round picks. This is about the entire gettin' paid, street agent mindset. If an NFL paycheck isn't worth going all out in a college game, guys are just going to go through the motions. And that's when you lose games.

That’s the mindset of most kids these days and honestly most people period.

It’s up to the coaches or bosses to make sure that doesn’t happen.

So even though it's everyone's mindset, and you defend that mindset, other people need to change that mindset for them. Got it.

What you just described is life. If there weren’t both of those types of people, and monetary value, nothing would get done. In any industry.

That's a good diversion.

Either you support the guys for quitting, or you don't. Which is it? If you support them, why do you want the coach to talk them out of it?

No it’s not, it’s the truth.

I’ve argued for both sides and said multiple times it’s not a big deal either way. I’m for whatever is best for the kid. Idc if kids sit out. I also enjoy when kids play their final game. It’s the kids life. Whatever the coach does it up to them. They have a job to do.

its the kids decision. to me, if it isnt a playoff, id rather opt out. the bowls are meaningless. for players, if it isnt a playoff and youre a high round pick already, id sit out. everyone of their teammates would get it. the bowls are a good chance to display next years potential too. the risk vs reward isnt worth it

it hurt them more imo. id rather have Mario out there recruiting than figuring out how to use timeouts for a Clorox bleach bowl

I know it's an individual decision and every circumstance is different.

Lately it seems like more and more superstars who aren't playing in the CFP are opting out.

Maybe these 2 guys will turn the tide a little bit (no pun intended).
