This is interesting. 2 high ranked NFL draft guys.

Coming from Alabama where it's playoffs/natl title or bust.

And they're both playing.

Why?

How does Nick Saban get these kids to want to play in what is basically a meaningless bowl game?

Because Satan told them that if by chance a 1 loss team wins it all, a 2 loss Alabama will get voted in as the National Champs......

Tough to say, but I'm sure one reason is the type of insurance policy these guy's can take out in the event they suffer a debilitating injury that'll payout millions.

Good luck to both of them, but how they get 2 top 5 picks to play in a letdown bowl game and a good chunk of this roster didn’t show up all **** season…

Culture, relationships? Life isn’t all about a bag and maybe they see it as one last ride with all their friends/brothers.

1. No idea what financial incentives might be out there, but both guys are playing to be #1 overall.
2. High ranked Alabama teams, that hit bowls with nothing really to play for, often flop big time.

That's why I'm asking the question.

Most kids in this scenario are putting themselves first and these two kids are still putting "team first".

Yeah, & trust me, I was taking no shot at u. I’m legit like it’s crazy this is now even a ?, as opposed to yesteryear & yesteryear was only a few yrs ago. Iirc, it was Fournette & CMAC who started this trend.

Bowl games used to mean something, if not for pride alone. And winning a NY6 bowl, even if it’s not the Nat’l title meant a whole chit! ****, I know as a fan I would kill for a NY6 bowl victory, & it pays well.

Just wild to see now.

Nick Saban has a clause in his contract that mandates that Saban and Alabama meet each February and calculate the average salary of both the three highest-paid SEC head coaches and five highest-paid coaches nationally. If Saban’s total salary is lower than either of those two averages, his pay will be raised to match the higher one.

Yet the players are applauded to play a bowl game where they get no compensation and possibly jeopardize they draft status ($$$$$$)? That's dumb as ****. The players should sit out and prepare for the draft. Anyone advising them oppositely should be fired and sued for malpractice.
