BOT / Highsmith for AD

You obviously know nothing about Alonzo Highsmith. He was more qualified than Flake 10 years ago.

Right. And then the minute he did something the mouth-breathers who unfortunately follow this program didn’t like, this whole board would be filled with “this is why we’re such a joke...UM’s administration doesn’t care about athletics, they hired a guy with no experience. We’re gonna suck forever. Fly a banner plane I’ve been saving for a month and have $24 to donate...#FireFrenk”

what does Highsmith know about running a swim team?
if he wants to be involved in football, recruiting, and boosters, give him some high level position but keep him away from the AD position. he is not qualified

on The Canesport call in podcast a caller indicated that Alonzo Highsmith had expressed interest in miami’s AD position if it became available.

He also discussed how there seems to be disagreement within the BOT on the direction of the program, with two members pushing hard to get Cristobal, and fairly upset that a legitimate search wasn’t performed by Blake.

He also detailed Blake James’ ascension into the AD role. He certainly doesn’t seem qualified now, or when he was initially hired.

Just passing along the info.

At the end of the day, what I take is that the only hope for real change is for Manny to continue crapping the bed and we lose out. That’s my opinion

So two board members are mad there was not a legitimate search and are pushing hard for Cristobal to replace Manny without any search?

Has this thread gone so far off the rails we have Highsmith hiring his old high school quarterback because they are buddies from back in the day?

Good grief.

If Highsmith would actually take the AD job, that would be a dream scenario. He's certainly got the experience in managing high level sports organizations, and the connections to get things done and to bring in the right people.
But what connections does he have with the NCAA? We need an AD who can keep them off our backs too.

There were a few board members that wanted Mario but Blake did not. Blake does not like Mario at all. Mario had an altercation while recruiting at a school and Blake and Golden went off.

Then hire Mark Emmert. I get what you're asking for, but I'm not sure it's realistic for us.

Then again, Radakovich seems to have it figured out, as far as keeping the NCAA looking the other way. I'm sure he's pretty comfy at clem$on right now, but he's only making about $1M/year. If we offered to make him the highest paid AD in the country at $4M per, and showed him that he will have full autonomy over the athletic department the way he does at clem$on, I have a hard time believing we couldn't convince him to come down here.

EDIT: And given how he has shown the ability to grow revenues at CU, and improve their performance in all sports, not just football, spending the extra money is PROVEN to be worth every penny as the returns on investment are massive, both to funding levels in the athletic department, but in quality and value of student life and #'s and quality of applicants. A rising tide lifts all boats, and you get what you pay for. They are cliche's because they are true.

Please don't compare Alonzo long career resume working in the NFL with Manny Diaz who I've never heard off until 3 years ago

My bad. Everyone around the country knows that qualification #1 for any job is whether or not message board Cylo has heard of the candidate. We will filter all future resumes across your duplex coffee table.

4 mill per for an AD? lol we barely paid that to a ******* HC. were not paying 1 m per for an AD.
