BOT / Highsmith for AD

OK, then enjoy irrelevancy.

i mean youre out of your mind thinking any school will pay that much for an AD. as you mentioned, even clemson who has done the best rehab job in CFB doesnt even pay that. on top of that, are you sure u follow the right program? this school has NEVER paid or overpaid for guys to that degree. we spent 4 on richt and that was the most we've ever spent. you think were gonna spend 4 on an AD and then go out and spend 6 on an HC? no lol. this is what miami is and has always been when it comes to money. were pretty cheap and play catch up. thats what it is. we have to hope we find right the Ad that the BOT allows to identify the right candidates. unfortunately, we dont have an AD nor a BOT that wants to let go of any power

dont want highsmith near the program as an AD. we need to poach the UCF AD. if you guys are done waiting for the dude to learn on the job, then get someone w experience. get the UCF guy in here and let him do what he did for UCF

Central Florida is a program on the rise, with 70,000 students and an alumni base that is starting to write checks back to build a football program.

Miami is still a private school with limited resources and a small alumni base.

Not only does Danny White have a better job at Central Florida—when he does leave, it will be for a much bigger job than he has now, meaning that even then or now, taking the Miami job would literally be a step backwards for him.

If you think Miami would have any shot poaching White, you have no idea how all this works. At best, they would be able to get his assistant. White would be a fool to leave his current post to come to UM, as his current job is better and his stock is high. Dude will be a premier job in the next 3-5 years. Book it.

Problem with UCF is East Orlando is ******* miserable. Abysmal traffic and shopping plazas. That's it.

With all their recent success they still can't recruit anyone anyone wants. I'm not that sure it'll change if in P5

i agree w you on his next likely landing spot. we need to do all we can to poach him. i dont think it'll happen realistically, but that would be my choice for a dream AD

LSU fans wanted O gone until this past season essentially. they didn't really have the patience for him either. remember, O was their back up plan after Fisher told them to **** off
No doubt.

The one thing with Cookie Monster is hes always been a beast recruiter, so when I say Mario will be our Coach O, I'm saying he will at least upgrade our talent base and surround himself with competent coaches.

One of the things that makes getting rid of Manny so urgent is that hes an awful recruiter and clearly an even worse evaluator of coaches.

Mario's FIU coaching staff was actually pretty impressive.

manny was the next hot candidate. in hindsight, it didnt work out, but when you go for the up and comers, thats what happens. sometimes you get lucky and soemtimes you dont. if you want experience, you gotta pay for experience and go with the guy that has proven to be successful elsewhere. highsmith is manny and blake. hes a better football mind than blake (no kidding), but he would still be learning how to run an athletic dept (there are more sports than just football). ucfs danny white (i think its his name) made a home run hire for their basketball program (hes gonna lose the guy to duke when K is gone but thats the reality) and he made a great hire in frost (up and comer with nO HC experience but he hit right). not sold on heuphal but the results are fine so far.

Manny was never a hot HC candidate...one interview and one job G5 offer doesnt equal hot candidate...

Bro. Notre Dame pays theirs well over $3M. We have a 10 year deal with Addidas that pays us $100M alone. If you think it's insane to pay an AD $4M per to run what should be a $100 million per year enterprise, well then that's why we are where we are.

You can say all you want that it won't happen, and I agree with you and that's why we're a third world program, just like Finebaum says we are. If we want to be a first world program, we gotta start acting like it, and doing what it takes to hire the best of the best.

If Temple counts, then yes. would you rather take your football-related employees from Temple or the NFL? tough one

i get your point, but temple has put their last four coaches (excluding manny) at p5 programs. rhule will be in the NFL soon enough. we just happen to hire the worst of the temple bunch

as of 18, NDs AD base was just under 1 mill. hes got compensation bonuses to put him close to 3. that is the highest in the country so youre using the most extreme example. the next highest in total compensation is NW at 1.57. at that point, there were only 17 ADs making over 1 mill. LSUs ad makes 725-750. kevin white makes 1.41 while his kin, danny, makes 575. so no, you dont need to pay an AD 4 mill lol bc it is unheard of.

Dude, why are you being so dense about this? I never said you NEED to pay $4M to an AD.

I said if you're going to get an AD, why not go get the best of the best, someone with a proven track record of having just taken a complete also-ran of a program and turning it into the elite of college football (while also raising revenues to levels that school never could have conceived of a decade prior)?

To go get that guy from a well-established program that has shown him that they will support him, provide him with autonomy, and give him everything he needs to succeed, you are going to have to pay big, probably even overpay. So, make him the highest paid AD in America and pay him $4M a year, and give him the reigns to go run the athletic department the way that he sees fit.

IF we did that, it would be worth every got **** penny and 10x more.

I agree his too on him holding out for a premier AD job, but there are only 65 of them, so how long does he wait for one of those to open up? He could come to UM for a few years and still bounce to a premier AD job. With only 65 openings it boils down to timing. When he left Buffalo for UCF, his deputy AD moved up to AD. 3 years later, Auburn came calling, which is where he is now. So his former #2 is now effectively in a better position, all due to timing. I don’t really keep up with AD openings and when/how often they come up, so who knows when that ideal/premier position comes around.

Oklahoma's AD makes about 450k. He's turned out pretty good. Lots of ADs have performance bonuses tacked on. Sounds reasonable to give a guy a bonus if he picks a coach who wins lots of games.
