Boston College at Miami February 12th 2020 at 7 pm on Fox Sports South (Pregame predictions, Game thread and post game reactions)

7 PM is the worst possible time for a game in this city. I live less than 6 miles from campus yet it took a full hour to get there. No exaggeration. Missed the first 12 minutes of play. There was a ridiculous delay on SW 57th Avenue.

Thankfully this is the final 7 PM game of the season. They should never be scheduled. The ticket taker told me it was the latest arriving crowd of the season. No kidding. I don't think the geniuses who set up these games have any clue regarding rush hour realities in South Florida. For whatever reason 6 PM now is just getting started. 7 PM is absolutely the worst. I experience it no matter what direction I go.

Anyway, that opponent never offered a threat, once I sat down with the score 28-15. With 2 minutes remaining in the game Boston College was shooting 13% from 3 point range.

Walker has explosive athleticism on offense but you can see why he sat until Larranaga deemed the season beyond hope. As others mentioned, Walker has no defensive rebounding instincts or aggressiveness at all right now. He just wants to get down court for another two handed slam.

Hilarious ending to the game regarding the over/under of 141.5.

It was a stone under all the way and with such a wide margin there was no chance to get any late fouling to extend the game and rack up cheap points. With 3 minutes remaining the over bettors were still a huge underdog and basically needed everything to go right, including no 30 second dribble outs by the leading Canes.

Somehow it happened. One perfect possession after another. Even on Boston College's final possession with the total sitting on 141 there was huge potential for a clanked 3 pointer and then Miami dribbling out the clock. When you have the over in that situation you are desperate for the trailing team to simply forego the 3 pointer and drive to the hoop for an uncontested layup. It never happens. I can't count how many times I needed that over the decades and it didn't happen.

The handful of us in the stands who were sitting together and following the progress of the 141.5 absolutely roared when Boston College indeed faked a 3 pointer from the perimeter and then drove for the easy lay up.

I would have loved to have heard those reactions in the sportsbooks. I do miss that stuff

With Wong playing so incredibly well. L and staff have a ton to think about over summer.

My rotation next year:
Lykes
Wong
McGusty (has to fight for this spot)
Timberlake
Brooks

2nd unit: (hopefully add a grad transfer)
Beverly
Cross
Wardenburg
Walker
Miller

Can Gak get healthy?

Timberlake, grad transfer, and L & staff ability to adapt and coach are keys to next years team. The talent is there to finish in top 5 of acc

Expectations will, and should be, high for next year.

Assuming no attrition or crippling injuries (Brooks is indispensable to high level success), we will have a roster that can be competitive with anyone in the country.

Coach L is a player development coach. Throughout his career he consistently exceeds expectations when he has a competitive roster that doesn’t rely on freshman.

Lykes - Wong
Beverly - Cross
McGusty - Timberlake
Sam - Walker
Brooks - Miller - Gak

There is a LOT to work with... the type of team L does BIG things with.

Turnovers have to be cleaned up among the back court but overall a very solid team assuming Brooks performs at level he has previously.

Miami outrebounded BC and Miami had 17 assist.

A good formula for success. Along with outscoring your opponent.

Lykes is going to play better due to the amount of talent now on the roster. He does not have to play so many minutes nor take as many shots.

I like how you are thinking and I am sure we will see that lineup at some point next season.
I only disagree because Coach L loves older teams so I anticipate as many seniors(5) starting as possible.

My projected starters for next season:

Lykes, McGusty, Timberlake, Wardeenburg and Miller.

2nd unit:

Beverly, Wong, Cross, Walker and Brooks.

Rest of the bench:

Gak and two freshman bigs who should redshirt(Dylan Cardwell and Daniel Batcho).

I actually think this team will accomplish what the 2013 team did and probably achieve more.

Timberlake will not start at the beginning of the season. Just like Huell, Brown and Walker, they are going to come off the bench and have to earn the starting job.

Rodney is playing well. He is showing flashes and he has become a consistent contributor to the team.

He should win the Most Improved Player in the ACC this season.

Yeah Lykes awesome assist to Miller for the dunk, lookin like Cat 5 Canes... Pinch me!
edit: oops wrong thread. Miracle goin on versus Wake Forest, got me all discombobulated.
