If it is L's last run, then at least he got a W. It's going to be a rough offseason, if they are going to make a move, they should do it next week. Don't waste any time, rip the bandaid off. If they aren't, then they need to make it clear to L and his staff that next year has to be a step back to the program that they had built before the FBI investigation. It's either Tournament or Gone. You have a legit star in Wong and some nice young pieces, there's no reason why with continued development that this team can't be a top half ACC team.

Interesting.
I don't agree nor disagree.
However, if he does come back and make the tournament next season, do you give him a contract extension?
He will have one winning season in the last four years plus with only a year or two left on his current contract, they will probably used against him in recruiting.
I am sure some people will tell you that impacted his recruiting if they are not able to have 13 scholarship players.

I don’t see how we could possibly make the tournament next year. For the most part we have underachieved under his watch, including 2013. Why would we want a 72 year old coach trying to do a major rebuild after 3 years of poor performances, including possibly our worst team in 30 years? He is leaving the team far worse than he found it. The only decision that makes any sense, is to go in another direction.

If he can recapture the magic, and you see recruiting get back to where it was before the investigation, I give him an extension. That said, I would also make sure that said extension has a very Institution favorable buyout clause, in case something happens. I would also have my short list of candidates ready at all times(Which any AD should have anyway), in case it was more of a last hurrah. It's a tough situation, because L has proven himself to be a good soldier and leader, but you've also hit that rough patch.

College Basketball coaches are older on average than their football counterparts, so there's that, but I would also want to start planning on a succession strategy.

We've underachieved consistently under L? Up until a couple of years ago, L had a streak of Miami consistently finishing BETTER than people had predicted Miami would finish preseason. If you think this is the worst team Miami has had in 30 years, then you haven't watched that much Miami basketball in the last 30 years. I can name multiple Clark and Perry teams that this team would stomp out.

I'm wrong more than right but I think L has one of the most secure jobs in the country. Unless he leaves on his own volition, he'll be back.

He has two new streaks now:

1. Three straight losing seasons overall record. Neither Clark or Haith did that.
2. Three straight losings seasons in conference.

Another fun stat...Coach finished this ACC regular season with a conference record of 3-15. This is our worst conference record since we began ACC play. Haith's worst record, in conference, was 4-12.

Finally, it appears the reluctant Coach will not make any changes to his atrocious staff. The numbers below are pretty telling, but that is just me.

An interesting stat is Points Allowed Per Season:

With Huger and Konkol

2011-12: 66.1
2012-13: 60.6
2013-14: 59.5
2014-15: 63.3

Average Points Allowed: 62.4 PPG

Without Huger and Konkol (aka Caputo Time)

2015-16: 67.4
2016-17: 64.1
2017-18: 67.8
2018-19: 71.1
2019-20: 73.2
2020-21: 71.2

Average Points Allowed: 69.1 PPG

Please note the following:

1. In 2019-20 we allowed 73.2 PPG. (https://www.teamrankings.com/ncaa-basketball/stat/opponent-points-per-game?date=2020-03-12)

2. In 2020-21 we allowed 71.2 PPG. (https://www.teamrankings.com/ncaa-basketball/stat/opponent-points-per-game?date=2021-03-06)

3. Caputo, as you know, became our D coordinator/specialist in 2015-16.

Don't waste any time? We're way past the point when obvious changes should have been made. Three straight losing seasons in conference. Three straight losing seasons (overall record). He fired ZERO coaches, during this time, from his atrocious coaching staff. Coach L is lucky that no one in the athletic department or on the BOTs gives a chit about athletics.

then you haven't watched that much Miami basketball

Do you watch much Miami basketball? What are your thoughts on the last three seasons? Were they fun?
