I had no expectations for him first couple years, but year 3? He need to flash something if he wants to stay on edge, he looks like a guy who should be inside and trying not to be.. Like a safety who didnt want to go to LB situation but in league will do it.. Time for him to go home.. I dont see burst, bend, just patty cake..

Blount was awol and ate alot of snaps today really. Also the tall dt from nebraska should of played more today too....With Billy Edwards they should of pushed the pocket from inside...the A gAPS...NOT THE DELAYED SAFETY STUFF THEY DID.

Als i think jjt or heatherman for whatever reason were a lil faze of billy edwards legs cause we were rushing the passer kind of staying in rush lanes etc....

We wouldn’t even bring extra DL in on 4th down and short plays. We literally had only three downline men on the field against their jumbo package.

They literLly just dove into the empty gaps… we had linebackers 4 yards off the ball.

How can Davis & Carter not help us in those situations? What am I missing

This is basically his year 2. I’ve seen maybe some minor improvement with his hands, but he rarely wins with that way. We have people thinking our entire DL is leaving early and gonna get drafted in R1 or R2. LOL. Come on, man. Too many pods and social media conclusions.

I hated when we played country cover 3 to oblivion but it worked with Bain Mesi and Jakobe and Keionte.. We missing ALL that juice now and that country cover 3 look like FOOD for every avg QB to have career days..

I didnt even know you could run that anymore and now I see why.. Them boys were some DAWGS last year man.. Got Heatherman PAIDDDDD and Dawson should be fired still!

He’s stiff , lacks bend and explosion for De. At best he’s a hybrid but inside is his best spot. We just don’t have much depth to not have him outside. It’s the opposite of Mesidor in 2024 playing inside.

Show me a play where he was given an opportunity to rush the passer that he quit on? Wilson being hated on because Heatherman couldn’t get him on the field is hilarious to me

He’s out 3rd down pass rusher, we had almost none of those situation and when we did the half back screen would go for 25 yards

He can’t consistently win inside, either. Or, at least hasn’t. He tries really hard and moves his feet, but he needs more strength and weight to do work in there. To say nothing of hands.

They were doubling Lightfoot all night and then pulling Scott/Moten on pass downs. I was didn’t understand what they were trying to accomplish all night.
 
The front in this defense is not a traditional 3-4 nor is it a 4-3. It is a stop the run with alignment first front that requires the DEs to be pass rushers AND run stuffers. Their base alignment is INSIDE the tackles. It's why Wilson doesn't impact games much bc he can't play the base DE position for us. He's an OLB in a traditional 3-4. Our base front has been extremely good against the run this year again, but not having two NFL guys there means there is zero base pass rush, and I mean ZERO. Only time it happens is when we play the pass rush unit and blitz. If we start ONLY doing that, you'll see us get run on.

It's probably why they raved about the OL this summer too, they were probably not giving up anything in the pass in practice.
