South Carolina HS bans Louisville...
Louisville’s Bobby Petrino is no longer allowed to recruit players from South Carolina’s Dutch Fork High School, according to the team's coach.
Petrino pulled a scholarship offer from the team’s star running back, Matt Colburn, this week. Louisville's defensive coordinator Todd Grantham was the one who reportedly made the call to pull Colburn’s scholarship. Grantham's reason was that the team needed more defensive backs in its class, not running backs. He (Petrino) won’t be able to recruit my school anymore and I imagine there will be some other coaches that will say the same thing. Trust factor is just not there. They’ve known about these three DBs wanting to go to the NFL for weeks now. To use that as an excuse doesn’t hold water with me," coach Tom Knotts told GoUpstate.com.
Colburn was obviously not happy when he found out about the news. He spoke with the Courier-Journal about getting his scholarship pulled just two days before signing day.
"It's been about eight months now that I've been committed, and I feel kind of short-changed because I got this (commitment and recruitment) taken care of even before the season started so I wouldn't have to worry about this anymore," he said. "But I guess that's just the way it is sometimes."
Wow.... thats not good....
