Bobby Bowden throwing up the U with coach Stroud

I've heard good things about Stroud but this photo looks like one taken after he just secured power of attorney over an elderly parent deep in the throes of dementia and is about to change alllll the life insurance beneficiaries without the other siblings knowing.

I yelled out "Go Canes!" at one of his speaking events. He paused and said something like, "Yeah, they got my dadgum number!" That was, I believe, in early 1990. I liked him, other than him letting his players get away with so much. I respected him for never avoiding Miami when he could have.

Look at Bobby....he's clueless....he has no idea what's going on.

He thinks Coach Stroud is his substitute home geriatric physical therapist and that they are doing a new exercise. He doesn't have the foggiest idea that he's doing the U, and more than that, he doesn't have any idea what the U is anymore.

Believe me, I know old people (and I'm almost as old as Bowden), and he's in a complete fog. He has no idea.

You are 100% wrong about Bowden. My buddy played with Stroud at FSU and he still talks to coach on a regular basis. He says coach is still sharp as a tac.

Just joking, dude!

Been doing it to Bowden for the last 20 years.

I remember too many recruiting battles we lost to FSU going back to the '80's...and at least one we lost under very fishy circumstances. So, I'm not charitable to Bowden. No love lost....I have a long memory.

Actually, kinda funny to see Bobbah do the U.

Actually, the funniest FSU coach was Bill Peterson. I'll have to see if I can find a list of his malapropisms.

It was interesting that Peterson had two star WRs, Fred Biletnikoff and Ron Sellers, who had young brothers who were highly recruited QBs. Both brothers went elsewhere: Ben Sellers went to UF and Bob Biletnikoff went to UM and started for us in 1964. I always thought the two older brothers encouraged the younger brothers to go elsewhere.

But Peterson was a highly quoatable gem--his confused statements were published and republished over the years.

But sorry, no real warmth in me for Bobbah. No hate, but no warmth. Still, give him credit for not pulling a Gator and not boycotting us.
