Bleak Visions ***- Arisen From the Dead

Serious question here. I'm with you on the prospect of never being back, but in this day and age of CFB, you mean to tell me that we can't win the Coastal consistency year in and year out??? We have "enough" talent based on recruiting rankings...coaching (Corching) is the big issue.

We 100% have more than enough talent to run through the Coastal every single year.

That post is fully representative of the blanket ignorance around here. The ACC Coastal is a perfectly fine mid level conference. It is currently 6th on Sagarin's power ratings and only a shade below 4th. Only three conferences or divisions are notably above the ACC Coastal. Here is the Top 10 according to Jeff Sagarin's model:

1 BIG TEN-EAST (A) = 84.26
2 SEC-WEST (A) = 83.71
3 BIG 12 (A) = 80.17
4 ACC-ATLANTIC (A) = 76.78
5 PAC-12(NORTH) (A) = 76.26
6 ACC-COASTAL (A) = 75.99
7 SEC-EAST (A) = 74.65
8 BIG TEN-WEST (A) = 73.92
9 PAC-12(SOUTH) (A) = 72.14
10 AAC WEST (A) = 71.03

Fans prefer to dismiss the numbers in favorable of subjectivity. Wonderful subjectivity. That subjectivity is responsible for "Pac 12 sucks" in the afternoon followed by raves about USC and its new offensive style late at night. Wonderful subjectivity is responsible for proclamations that we'll run the table in the ACC Coastal because all the teams suck anyway and most of them are in chaos this season.

Meanwhile if you merely ignore the subjectivity and own a real world grasp of relative talent level and the associated power ratings, none of this is a surprise or will ever be a surprise.

Check those numbers. We're talking about a few points, on average. Other than the Big 10 East and SEC West, everybody is bunched. The Pac 12 South right now is at a rare low power rating level for a major conference. But that won't last long.

Apparently many posters here source from another forum, let's say 15+ years ago. The loudmouth Happy Adjuster types apparently were king on that forum. That type didn't have any clue then, any more than they do now. It was difficult not to laugh when I joined this site and saw what was being passed around as gospel or legendary.

But the numbskull versions had more opportunity then solely because the Canes roster was stacked, not much different than Clemson now.

BTW, Clemson doesn't have long term birthright to this level either. They aren't suddenly Alabama. But Clemson does have advantages the Canes have never owned, namely an on-campus stadium and plenty of room on campus to use this uptick era to build a football infrastructure that can extend the era probably longer than otherwise logical.

It also doesn't help that the ACC has no interest in Miami rising again.

They do everything in their power to keep us 'good' enough so their ol' boys can get a signature win. They don't want the old Miami back.

Can’t join a conference where it’s old blue blood there, and it’s headquarters is literally in the area that most of its teams reside. Not good for business.

Although, let me take that back. They put us directly opposite of FSU, envisioning a FSU v Miami rivalry in the ACCCG often. They put us in the weakest division. So I can’t say that.

They might have set it up that way, but we see every season how biased the officiating is when we play a team from the Carolinas.

Congratulations, OP. You now agree with Sports Illustrated.

I wasn't true to myself, I tried to be somebody I wasnt. I lied to myself about what I saw last year. I said RIcht was the problem, before that I said Golden was the problem, before that I said Shannon was the problem, before that I said Coker was the problem. You know what I realized last night..I am the problem.. I for believing in something that has passed us by a long time ago. I lied to myself, I truly know what the problem is.

Guys we will never be back, hiring average coach after average coach. Crooting pretty good players instead of the great ones. The University of Miami is not able to succeed in the platform of college football anymore. We are the UNLV of college football. The game of college football has passed us by. We are Dunder Mifflin, Kmart,Sears, we cant compete in this market.

I tried to listen to the veteran posters claim how could we not win 10 games in this weak ACC of course we could win 10. I knew all along when that is your reason that you could win 10 games you know you've got a problem. I bet under 8.5 games on the season for a reason. Lost $150 on last nights game. I wasnt true to my inner bleak core...this will never happen again. Two weeks to prepare for North Carolina and we came out flat and we were thoroughly out coached in all phases of the game. We were more talented then them at every position except QB which i would call even. Crooting is done son forget your top 10 crooting class.

I am prepared to just be happy beating FSU where i spent 5 glorious years. Talking **** to my old college roomates one time a year is all I have to look forward to to this team. Im sure there will be thread after thread claimin how we are a few field goals away from being 2-0 blah, blah, blah. We won 10 games with Rosier blah blah. We will finish 8-5. Getting our **** pushed in again in a meaningless bowl games. Im still gonna watch but we are done as a national football program. Its over

I feel your pain but it really can be fixed by a better coach. Going back to Larry Coker it was one bad hire after another. If it was just a Miami problem, did any of those coaches ever get a P5 job again? Nope. They were awful hires. Our "best" hire was a guy who had basically decided to retire, but saw Miami as a way to get his son into coaching. Yet he still managed to win 10 games out of nowhere. Miami needs a fanatic, innovative coach who knows how to build a P5 program. Looking for a coach who LITERALLY said, "If I coached at the University of Miami, I'd never lose a game." There is a guy like that in Pullman, WA.

Hi nole scumbag. OK EVERYONE NEW
🤡 CLOWN 🤡 VERN IS A NOLE. He will bump his own threads a million times. Report him and hope that the boards moderators ban him. AGAIN. He is not a Cane. He is a Seminol. He went to fsu. He loves fsu. He trolls UM fans and posts his fun on fsu boards. Please don’t feed the troll. Down vote and report him. Be a Cane and make this guy go away.
I didn’t know he posts his trolls on F$U boards. Someone please post an example of this if you have one.

@blackvern - do you post our suffering on an F$U board?

I’m tired of everyone including myself saying we are more talented then these teams. Point blank we are not. Like I said on a post after the Florida game when posters were saying we will run the table, I said can we beat UNC first. We aren’t the same Miami, Manny is right this is TNM. This Miami has good players, not great players. We can’t compete the Bama’s, Clemson’s, Georgia’s. ****, we can’t even win the Coastal. This team needs time and we have to accept that. Years of inept recruiting on the OL and at QB have set us back years. We have mediocre coaches and I just hope we can beat FSU for some bragging rights because other than that, it’s going to be a long season.
We have more than enough talent to beat UNC and win the CoRstal. It’s coaching that isn’t letting us do that. Frank Beamer on our sidelines last night wins this game.

When your preseason goal is win the coastal and get smash by Clemson in ACC title game. Then you’re doing all wrong. Who wants to put their heart into that. The only reason for effort is the rise your draft status to make it into the league. This is the State of Miami!

This is a ridiculously long post that has nothing to do with my comment. Miami has double the amount of blue chips of the next highest rated Coastal team. We are 1-2 players away from having triple the amount UNC had. We should run through the trash coastal.

Ok. So it’s not true. This guy said you actually post our stuff on F$U boards. How would I know if that’s true. I asked the question. Now I’m ****ed if this is a flat out lie against you, tbh.

Edit: not jersey shore Cane - apologies from me to you.

@Boarcane, what’s up dude? Do you have any screenshots or links of Vern doing this? All F$U Vern jokes aside, It’s one thing to have attended F$U because of funds but it’s a different thing to do what you said he did. Just saying, it’s a shîtty thing to post on here if it isn’t true.
