Blast away, I'll go ahead and say it...

Butch is so great his is coaching at FIU because he needs a challenge
If you follow his career path and the things that have happened regarding him, then you know that the BS which happened at UNC is what tanked his career. He has been exonerated from all of it, but school's are too frightened to give him a go. You have so many schools breaking rules and they arbitrarily draw the line with Butch, but not with a slew of other coaches caught in shenanigans.

Answer this honestly - do you believe Butch would not have us in a better position for the team and tonight's game had he been hired instead or Mark? If you're not just trying to defend your position and answer honestly, we all know that the team would've been ready for tonight's game as opposed to the debacle we endured tonight.

Richt could be the guy, he just keeps making boneheaded mistakes like he did at UGA. Point in case practicing 1s v 2s in the run up to this game, just like when UGA LOST TO BOISE ST IN THE GA Dome because they did not practice silent audibles 🤦

He's made some good hires, and made some really bad ones as well. Bad hire #1 was himself as OC, saw that coming from a mile away along with bad hire #2 his son as QB coach. Searles has been trash since day 1 and Rumph sucks at recruiting. Only elite coach on our staff is Dugans, Manny needs to step up his recruiting and get more elite kids to run his scheme - when that happens watch out CFB.

You are not far off, but what shows the current state of Miami and if Butch was there now.

Richt is doing a lot of right....

But as other better teams have figured out he and Manny Diaz has become very predictable.

That's a major problem. We will not out Talent the better teams. Our "scheme" is predictable.

Butch would possibly adapt better in year 3.

Oh, I lived through those moments and was very frustrated many times during that span. But, he continued getting better and he would build such incredible players and teams that it would compensate for his gameday shenanigans.

What I said about where we'd be tonight is true. We would've been better prepared for tonight's game.

When I heard it was Richt, I was happy and wanted to be happy because I root the Canes and hoped for the best, but I wanted Butch and so far, sadly, it looks like the school made the wrong decision.

the only way butch won was with better talent. ever. his teams here were known for being unprepared. with the way the recruiting landscape has changed ($$$) i'm not sure even butch can bring in the talent anymore.

Richt likes to play it safe - a fatal flaw.

He's so focused on procedure, performance by rote, and formula - and it stagnates very quickly as there's no surprise - you become very predictable and very limited.

Richt is not hungry. Richt is comfortable. He was comfortable at Georgia. Now he's comfortable at UM.

Dammit.

i love that we're not texas with the boosters running the football program, but there are times i wish we had some big money guys that the board had to listen to. this is one of those times the AD and president need to have a meeting with richt (fire jr for him so he doesn't have to)first thing in the morning, but like others have said, winning isn't a priority here anymore.

Butch is a DL coach by trade.

Greatest talent evaluator ever.

Knows the recruiting game.

Had a great eye for assistant coaches.

I believe we would be much better at this point had we gone in that direction.
Our Ol and Dl would be beast thats a fact under him and we wouldnt lose sfla guys he was on especially at db thats afact

Looks like similar plays given up.... and a pick six by the QB

FIU with Butch cant recruit they dont have the budget and the school name, i dont care if sabans there u need the schoo lto back u up. Alot of factors go into play no one will go there even if butch is there cmon be realistic

either you guys didn't watch football from 98-2000 or you have amnesia, but the butch davis i remember was a horrible gameday coach. we'd be having the same conversation today if butch was here. and his coordinators were ****, which lead to his horrible game day performance. just stop already. he'd make a great recruiting coordinator but his coaching sucked.
We may have the same conversation but have Juedy Jobe PS2 Tyson CJ......stud OL and stud DL even if we never heard of them. Dude had Gurley going to UNC. He would of at least held off saban in sfla theres no question about it no matter what anyone tells u here

Great Post.

Butch would've had a competent QB
Butch would've had a competent OC
Diaz would NOT run a Defense like this under Butch....
Butch would've had a Plethora of Good assistants.....
Soldinger craps on Brown....
Curtis Johnson craps on Duggans
Kehoe craps on Searles
Pagano craps on Rumph
Chuds and Coker crap on Richt jr.....
Pagano craps on Hartley....
Bowden wasnt some Great gameday coach...thats why he had a Great OC (Brad Scott) and a Great DC (Mickey Andrews)......

To build a team with 31 scholarship reductions - that could have played for a National Championship in 2000, won in 2001, and really won in 2002 except for a really bad call - he fit in Miami.

He did the bulk of recruiting and player assessments for JJ, and then for himself - and set up Clappy -

[BOLD] Butch would have hired an offensive coordinator. [/BOLD]

This x1000. Name me a top team that doesn't have an offensive coordinator and has their HC doubling as playcaller/QB coach? This is f*cking madness.
