It's great to finally have an AD that wants to be at Miami and understands this culture. The last two ADs belonged in the Great Plains or Midwest. Blake James stuck through the crap and will be there for the glory. The ACC title in basketball was the first reward, but there will be more.

Check out this quote from Blake when Dennis Dodd was grilling him on the dominance of the SEC:

"Take the last 30 years. Compare Miami to any school in the SEC. I'd be happy to do it."

Great quote. Only a matter of time before we get this thing righted. Just have to put together the Ws now.

I am interested to see how or if he deals with the Morris baseball situation.

Another one of the positives was the schedule...we need to stop bending over backwards for the media...love what he is doing.

Blake is a great guy and he is committed to UM (unlike the two shysters who preceded him). All of the boosters I know think very highly of Blake and are confident that he is the right person for the job. Add to that the fact that he has the respect and support from his staff, and you have a guy who will, more likely than not, succeed at UM.

we need everyone that is assosicated with Miami Hurricanes to be dedicated to the program like some of our fans are.

Blake did just that.

NOW if Blake wants to carve his name in the Miami Hurricanes legend... and be part of the "ESPN 30 for 30 The U came back and beat every time 1000 times "

he needs to stop promoting The ProPlayer/LandShark/whatever the f it's called now stadium and focus on seriously building our own stadium.

I am booster at the u, just became one this year actually. Have gotten to know Blake pretty well and I can say he is a great guy and he is completely invested into this program. Which is something we have desperately needed. Plus I love his quote to the sec guy

James is a nice guy and is committed.

The question remains when crunch time comes and he has to make a decision on a coach of a major sport (football, basketball, baseball) what will be the quality of his decision?

No one knows. Nice guy and committed to the U is separate from the quality of his decision making. I hope he's a good one, but we won't know for awhile.

This is a fair point. What makes it tough is that you REALLY pull for a nice guy to succeed, but when they don't it can become a disaster because no one ever wants to can a nice guy. Edited to add - my comment was speaking in general. James has done/said all the right things to this point, that I can tell. I'm a fan.

Get us a DT, please

Maybe I haven't been paying attention but what's the deal with Morris? Folks are thinking it's time to show him the door? I thought he always got good recruits, but was hampered by early draft entrants. Has the baseball team really gotten that bad?

Can't agree more on what people are saying about Blake, but still ridiculous to expect he's going to run out and dig up land and money to build a football stadium. Unfortunately, it's not gonna happen. Nor is he going to play a significant role in the on-going NCAA investigation and Infactions Committee hearing. This is being handled by folks above, so he's just along for the ride. No real role other than to be the program's face and put out the company line.
Here's his deal going forward:
-- Coaching contracts: Over the next year or two, he needs to put his imprint on the baseball program (Morris gracefully retires or gets fired). Even more important, Blake needs to make sure everything is done to keep Coaches Golden and L happy, that their contracts are extremely competitive, that assistants are taken care of and they have all the resources necessary to fight the fight. Needs to be proactive in doing everything possible to retain Golden.
-- Scheduling: Work hand-in-hand with the coaches to put together schedules that they think work best for their programs.
-- Facilities: Ok, an on-campus stadium is unrealistic, but do everything else and more to keep up with the big boys. Kids/recruits are, in part, sold now days by facilities. Don't ever be content with what you have. Push for an indoor practice facility. Work to make Joe Robbie a better home field, market and sell, get fannies in the stands.
-- Continue to enhance and push the Cane legacy, connecting with alumni and former players and coaches.
-- Show fans he has a pulse and fight for the program inside and outside the conference. Be a feisty Cane. On this count, he's light years ahead of his immediate predecessors.

Would like him to get UFag back on the schedule:

I'm not one to knock her, but this is squarely on DS. You knew neither of those dudes wanted to be there longterm.

It's not up to him tho. Foley and UF want more home games not OOC games. If I remember right they tried to back out of this years game?
