Blades moving full-time to safety?

1st... Rok is the GOAT; lets just get that established from the start.

And 2nd, Blades Jr was playing Nickel/Safety in Spring for the most part as is, so IF he were to move to Safety it would make sense because with Porter Jr, Harris & Graves coming in the Fall there’s an overlap at CB & considering none of them hit the Portal this offseason, somebody was gonna have to move in order to properly allocate reps.

Blades Jr would not be playing Deep center-fielder FS, he’ll be playing Nickel & lining up in the slot covering mostly intermediate routes, he’s also a good Blitzer from that spot as well & gives us flexibility to rotate coverages in Zone & give more disguised looks by having another versatile DB on the field.

We are about to have a much, much improved defensive backfield. With the transfers and freshmen at corner in addition to Rique returning, and now 4-5 safeties who can really play, UM is going to be so much better in pass defense. Add to that a more aggressive style for our corners, who are more large than quick to begin with, and this could be fun to watch.

Agree with you about him blitzing from the slot, I remember him being quite effective doing that early in his career.

As others have said even if he's technically a safely it's likely he'll be doing what he was in the spring.. lining up in man/nickel or otherwise close to the LOS and blitzing a lot. Don't see him in the James Williams or Kinchens role playing deep half or thirds very much if at all.

Really a jack of all trades role best fits Blades. I expect him to play some good solid football this season he is a veteran that has seen/been thru alot.
honestly, with him peaking and looking into backfield
I believe his skills and experience should equal those 2-3 picks he's left on the field in the past (each season)
previously, our DBs had terrible issues getting their heads around for the easy picks
now it will unfold in front of him more in the slot (nickel/dime packages)

actually excited for him
