Bill Belichick

I was listening to Donno moderate Locked on Canes/ACC crossover episode where he noted that UNC has only 5 3-star recruits right now. No 4 stars and no 5 stars. They're ranked 58th. Only Wake and Georgia Tech are behind them in the ACC.

Bellichick is paid $10M a year.

misleading imo.

31 players transferred out and I’m unsure how many seniors he had. Still, He has to take a small class because he just took 62 transfers + recruits for 2026. The Brown-Belichick hybrid class took 60 in ‘25 (29 recruits and 31 transfers). A lot of those guys stuck around under BB if they didn’t graduate.

Nebraska did a version of this strategy by taking 42 then 37 players in ‘24 and ‘25 before taking 28 in ‘26 (a dozen from HS, sixteen transfers).

BB may well fail; his 2027 class won’t be the reason why.

I don’t know Cookies. It’s a different era and all. But we just emerged from 20 years of poor talent spacing and decent classes followed up by weak ones. That seems like a recipe for failure even now to me.

I hear you. Not possible to cut the deficit down all in one class. Agreed.

I’m just saying the failure will be due to those ‘25 and ‘26 classes and even with a successful season he still plans on taking a smaller Class in ‘27.

If he doesn’t win seven games or more, he won’t be around to coach those ‘27 players anyways.

Personally, i feel BB is too good at defense and Petrino is too good at offense for a repeat of last year.

Rhule still has his job for the time being and their AD is preaching patience lol. Not here predicting UNC making the playoffs or even ACC conference championship game.

I just believe BB and Petrino are too good of football coaches that UNC won’t get below .500 this upcoming year. Butch went 4-8 at UNC his first year as well.
