Biggest threat to Miami = Phil Knight

Phil Knight has been supporting Oregon athletics for decades. Their last two coaching hires were guys with losing records as head coaches. And while they’ve had some good coaches over the years, none were big names before taking the job. Every school has billionaire boosters. Phil Knight only seems like a big deal because people know who he is. Oregon isn’t a power player in college football and never has been.

Hasn’t @Cribby or someone else mentioned this whole notion regarding phil knight dropping cash is somewhat BS. No question he could if he wanted but he’s never done it before. Also I saw someone post a screenshot from their 24/7 saying they are working on extension for Mario but any little donation to the school will help as Covid has really hurt the university financially. No question they will come with some figure but $15 is absurd. It would make him the highest paid coach in football - at least certainly in college and most pro guys for that matter

Phil Knight doesn’t care, not sure how you came up with this nonsense. He will do what he always does, buy what he needs, in this case another coach.

And for the record, the biggest threat to Miami has always been, is and will always be Miami. Specifically goof balls like Epstein.

I've documented, on a separate thread, Oregon's (and Phil Knight's) 50 year history of paying Oregon head coaches moderate contracts and elevating the Offensive Coordinator to Head Coach for 4 of their last 5 HC hires. And the other HC hire, the one that came from a "national search", was to poach the Head Coach FROM USF.

Give it a rest. Phil Knight does NOT "back up the Brinks truck" to pay Oregon coaches. Never has.

Exactly. Not to mention, where is he pulling this $15 million number from?!?! Riley is getting $10, Kelly $9. How’d he come up with $15 to secure Mario?

Miami’s biggest threat is Miami. Unfortunately, several members of the BOT are serious bad apples.
