So I live in Gainesville and have a few friends on the UF team/staff and all I have heard is how toxic the environment is. Once UF lost to Kentucky it seemed most of the players in the program quit, were demoralized and as some put it “no longer wanted to be there”. The trust in coaches quickly went south and eventually the players (as seen in recent weeks) have completely and utterly given up and no longer care about the season. All I have heard is they all want the year to be over with. Once the players heard about DC Grantham potentially being fired, or OL coach hevesy being replaced they gave up on those coaches and stopped caring what they had to say almost all together. Once they heard the rumblings about Dan Mullen that exact mindset appeared (one of the reasons he was fired, completely lost the locker room in several ways).

But I say all that to put my view that what is said above is simply why we could not think to bring Manny back. Players hear the outside noise no matter what you do. I give Manny credit for keeping them playing with passion/effort and not letting it become toxic like UF. But players, recruits and outside coaches know the fanbases/medias take on Manny. If we retain him it would put us in such a far hole in so many ways. He may have kept the team from turning on him this year but if he is retained the off season chatter, low ticket sales and outcry from the fan base would almost inevitably create a toxic environment. It took UF 6 weeks to become T O X I C (although apparently chatter amongst players about grantham being gone soon was happening over summer). Most of the fan base actually believed Dan should’ve stayed and was very surprised to see him fired. We are already cold on the trail and will not be a hot commodity in the portal with our current staff/situation. The program needs fresh blood and optimism. The recruits need it, the fans need it and the program NEEDS it.

This is logical and makes sense.

But there are some people that want to be miserable and love to be miserable, and even though with everyone telling them, including some of our most respected insiders, that Manny is done, they still want to hang onto the fantasy that he’ll be here another year.

Why?

So they spread their special brand of misery and doom throughout the site.

Because they are miserable people.

I honestly think recruits are waiting on us to see who we hire before making a decision. I know a few 2023s in the local HS’s that are curios to see who we get. The consensus was that they’d be “hype” if we got kiffin/Mario but wouldn’t give us much of a look if Manny stays “unless y’all have an excellent season next year then maybe”

To me no matter if a coach is on the hot seat or not if your a player and have half a brain you still gotta go out there and play your *** off whether its to show the new coaches what your made of and your also playing for a career in the nfl im sure scouts love guys that give up when things get a little bumpy.

Those kids are incredibly soft. They should be extremely embarrassed to give up like they did. Sure, the d coordinator sucked *** but where's the pride? It's honestly pathetic.

Also, I'm not blaming the kids for th coaches. The coaches sucked *** but it still isn't a good reason to completely throw in the towel.

Who are some key guys you hear waiting to sign in Feb? I know Shemar is one. Any others?

I just want to see the scroll. Other schools have gotten their scroll. I am waiting.

Biggest reason leaked today. He won’t be able to replace Lashlee with an equal or better OC. Lame duck coach that no good OC will come play under.
Final nail, for sure. Who is he going to replace him with? Who wants to be looking for a job in 12 months?

The cool thing about this team is that when they hit adversity, they battled through it and got behind a new QB. Most sane people inside and outside the program realize the deficiency is clearly coaching.

When UF hit adversity they completely mailed it in, the team itself is way soft. Too bad we gave the Noles some life, we could have sent them way down the toilet.

The locker room is a mess, at Miami. The young kids haven’t “given up” because they’re playing hard for each other but believe there are serious issues in the locker room.

Guys, Manny isn't coming back. It's becoming more and more clear.

The things that are making some people here hysterical are the very things that show we may finally be a competent athletic department, finally.

Let his buyout drop next week. Smart.

Hire an AD and let them be a part of the process. Use a search committee to handle background chores and to provide good optics. You don't want the BOT or President to make coaching decisions. You want an AD to. Don't play AD a week before you actually hire one. It only undermines your new hire and might even dissuade some candidates.

Let it play out. It feels good.

I’m no insider by any means. I’m not sure on 2022s (Wesley, Kelly, Rogers and the twins are my best guess as to who is in wait and see mode) but the 2023s are simply local HS recruits. No one major but a couple who I expect to get Miami offers, I know a couple of local OL that had Miami offers that chose elsewhere a couple cycles because they didn’t think Miami was any good. (One said they didn’t give them a look because they don’t prioritize football…)

I heard a commentator last week say that classes a replacement coach recruits (in the short time he was after the season) are overwhelmingly statistical failures - that new coaches now should grab the best they can and spend most of their time on the portal, makes sense.

Our locker room has been dog **** all year. We have a coach and staff that, unlike what they promised all off-season, played seniority over talent. They made the “seniors” captions, in spite of the fact that they didn’t practice hard and weren’t leaders. He lost the locker room the day he put out the depth chart for Alabama. They had zero feel for the dynamics of the locker room. The guys that played childish games, partied, didn’t care about wins and loses and most of all did nothing to build team unity, became their speech givers before games and halftime. This staff is not what this program needs, if it wants a brotherhood or guys that go to war for each other. The thing that got most of our kids through the season, was focusing on putting their best individual film on tape so they could leave and make lives for themselves. I applaud every kid that played his *** off, because the smart ones are going to get paid! The good news is, James, Kitchens, Leonard, Melo and a bunch of other freshman and sophomores tuned out the rest and are focused on making their classes closer, welcoming newcomers next season and being legitimate leaders. This staff showed them what not to do. It’s a very real talking point. We will be better without them. Bye to Manny and his bull**** leadership. Next
