Big update from Herald

It's not about how much UM would have offered those two, it's simply that neither one would have seriously considered Miami, unless it was to drive up the price of poker.
Ok but your question was does anyone think we missed out due to the delays , not if they were interested or not.... That's why I added the part about the money.... I don't doubt the driving up the price part at all I mean Mario's agent has to be doing backflips with all the action going on... It's absolutely gonna drive his price up....

This is sarcasm... right?

Why do you need to behave like an impatient crybaby in EVERY SINGLE POST?

The BOT has over 80 members. We cycle out about a half-dozen members every two years or so. Change takes time.

And don't try to get cute with me, I've been posting "Fire Beta Blake" comments for years. I'm one of the few people on the record on this issue, even during the "But he built the IPF" era. Unfortunately, the BOT hasn't read my posts, and so the only alternative is to slowly replace the old guard with the new guard.

Not sarcasm.

None of my posts have anything to do with being impatient. I think you're mistaking me with someone else. Everything I've written here has to do with Miami's corrosive "Miami bro" thinking and overall apathy.

Like I said in another thread, I've been where most of you all are now. But let's see what tomorrow brings when the buyout drops. Legally, they can't say anything about Manny being even remotely dismissed until December 1 or they could be sued for the extra couple of millions. So I'm chilling on the Manny stuff until tomorrow. As far as the AD decision, I agree that this has dragged on too long. I also will agree with what someone else said about giving Mario wayyyy too much leverage in this situation. We're coming off like a bunch of thirsty thots at spring break only settling for one guy and one guy only. Who would have thought Lincoln or Brian Kelly would leave their plush situations? Man eff it, kick the tires on everyone. Call Dabo, call Fickell, Call Petersen, Call Kiffin, call Rhule, call everybody. Most are going to say no but damnit shoot your shot. Mario Cristobal did not invent elite coaching and recruiting. Others can do it too.

A few things:

1. Our school doesn’t get, nor do they deserve, the benefit of the doubt. We have no track record, other than hiring the unemployable, and there is no reason to think she is good at what she does.

2. She is a part of and worked directly for cancer. There is no real reason to retain anyone from this athletic department as they’re associated with utter failure. Is it logical to keep “material” positions from a failed regime? I suppose it worked with promoting Randy and Diaz…stick with it.

3. What has she done that was so great? Don’t say anything about Katie Meier as she has nothing to do with her.

4. There was this awesome article (below). Vomit.

Now it is your turn, why should we keep her?

Did I say we should keep her?

Nail in coffin if we miss out on Lane. UM loses again!

You are the "15-0" of Lane Train passengers...

So Mississippi has changed its state law limiting contracts to a 4-year duration?
Interesting.

I should have reworded my statement to mean restructure, aka raise, rather than extension

You guys really think on the heels of Ole Miss going 10-2, and after all the recent coaching deals, the they would be idle on Kiffin’s deal and not try to retain him???

Okay

Just gonna play devil's advocate for a second. If a tree falls and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound. If Miami is making moves and CIS does not exist, does anyone think Miami is a clown show to the extent it has been portrayed?

I mean...Twitter and the newspapers still exist. This website and others add to the circus effect...sure. But most every media outlet presents a University that simply doesn't have their **** together.

So whether it's actually true or not...it looks that way and the optics are bad enough.

With that said...someone always brings up what you've said...but years later when **** gets out...its always far worse than what was presented on the disaster **** known as the internet.

The fact that some here notice the Big Top open at the Cirque du Hecht tells me they've got the standing elephant, dancing bear, juggling clowns, and fat bearded ladies inside.

A legit poster has shared she is unqualified for her position, has a great deal of power with Frenks/BOT and was a major endorser for Diaz. Get that BS out of the Hecht Center.

Every bit of that "legit poster" claim is bullsh!te.

She is certainly qualified for her position. She has worked at UM for nearly 10 years, and has a nearly 25 year career. She worked for the NCAA (twice) and was an AAD at another university prior to Miami. We can sit here and CRITICIZE HER JOB PERFORMANCE, but that is a different question from "unqualified for her position".

She does NOT "have a great deal of power with Frenks/BOT". But, yeah, I forgot that the story on Strawley keeps changing. It used to be "Shalala hand-picked her", now Frenks is to blame. But even if she is well-liked by Frenks/BOT, do you blame them? Literally, ANYONE at Hecht is easier to like than Beta Blake was. As for "great deal of power", one of the reasons cited for sacking Beta Blake was that he didn't fight for more resources for the Athletic Department. If Strawley had "sooooo much power, a great deal of power", then how did Beta Blake manage to get fired? Surely Strawley was fighting for resources and Frenk/BOT gave the resources to her, since she had a great deal of power, right?

A "major endorser" for Diaz? What, you think that Beta Blake was THISCLOSE to hiring Mario, and then Strawley got in his ear during the few hours before he hired Diaz? Get the fvck out, Beta Blake locked in on Diaz and he didn't need some "major endorser" convincing him to hire Diaz. Sure, after the hire, EVERYONE in Hecht endorsed Manny. That's what happens. That's real life. Beta Blake loved Diaz and Epstein backed his play, but Strawley was home for the weekend and had nothing to do with it.

Again, even if we disagree with things Strawley did...even if she was well-liked...even if she got on the Diaz Train once he was hired...that still doesn't make your sentence factually accurate.

She does a job that involves the administration of a department with a nearly $100M budget. By definition, that makes her powerful.

But you **** well know that the DISPROPORTIONATE criticism of her has to do with her gender.

I'm on the record for advocating a full turnover of anyone and everyone in Hecht who was hired/promoted by Beta Blake, including Strawley. I have posted such numerous times. But the demonization of Strawley, in particular, is based on other factors.

****, most of the people on CIS cannot name ONE OTHER Athletic Department administrator BESIDES Strawley.
