Hello friends, like you all I’m hurt and im starting to come to a horrifying reality of where our future lies in CFB. Smh but a question for those who were a little more tied into the behind the scenes stuff during our move from the big east to the acc, I was in the military at that time and couldn’t follow things as good as I would have liked. Why did we move? I know the acc offered more money but was the big east treating us, vtech and BC unfair? I can’t help but correlate the start of demise to that time. The big east was our home and should have been protected by raiding the Acc at the time for football schools as the acc was complete garbage at the time in football aside from FSU. Basically it just feels like our own conference hates us and takes pride in making things as hard as possible on us which feels out of spite. Anyways rant over but does anyone have the specifics on why we actually left? And if anyone doesn’t think we’re playing at a disadvantage in the conference let me leave this quote from Barry Jackson’s blog
▪ UM notices that it tends to get some disadvantageous things with the ACC schedule, including having to play on the road the day after Thanksgiving multiple times in recent years and a lot of road night games, often the home opener for the ACC team it’s playing, like North Carolina this weekend.
The schedule makers “are sending you there to lose,” Diaz told WQAM. “It will be our job to disappoint them.”

There are several documentaries on the subject
- The Big East was imploding...... period

Our schedule is a walk in the park this year

The demise of the program was one Larry Coker and the AD that let the players talk him into hiring him

You left the Big [L]East for better football - and I really hope Diaz did not make the comment about the schedule makers.

The conference doesn't really hate us as much as the officials do.

The officials take their orders from the conference. We are a glorified whipping boy for the Carolina teams. We sell out their stadiums, and they gift call after call, or no call after no call, to their teams. We are the Washington Generals. Paid huge sums of money to take our fixed beatings. Like I said all week, college football is getting to be as fake as professional wrestling, and people just can't see it.

Outside of the missed PI when the DB held Jeff’s arm the game was called fairly well. Now I’m not saying we haven’t been screwed in the past and won’t again in the future, but Saturday’s game wasn’t anybody’s fault but our own

Lol, UNC had one penalty for 5 yards. The ACC refs haved called back every long run we have had for years. UNC held nearly every play and was never once called. The PI us in the end zone that gifted them the ball at the 2 and a touchdown when it would've been like 3rd and 7, was an absolute joke as a) the ball was uncatchable and b) the receiver fell down hurt.

The ACC hates us and it is undisputable. The schedule is never favorable with games after thanksgiving in the cold and so many night road games. Compounding matter, the refs f*ck us game in and out. I wish we could leave the conference and try another.

The hold on Cam’s long run was legit. Idk if they showed the replay on tv but in the stadium, Scaife tackled his man. It didn’t really affect the play but it was a hold. I don’t remember what PI you are talking about off the top of my head. My point is every game has missed calls but that’s hardly the reason we lost. This was no Duke game where we racked up 22 penalties

I see your point and generally agree, but this isn't exactly new. The officials absolutely hated us in that 91 Cotton Bowl. They didn't need any guidance from anyone. It hasn't gotten a lot better. We will always have have to perform substantially better than the opposition to leave with a W because there will be missed calls and bogus calls, all harming us.

Dude, we deserved every penalty that game. It was soooo worth it.

Man, he pancaked his butt. We've had far, far worse holdings NOT called when our D is out there.

Don't get me wrong, we missed opportunities, but when UNC gets ONE delay of game penalty.... Seriously? You think they didn't do any **** thing else? ONE MFin delay of game penalty, which they are obligated to call.

I agree with almost everything you are saying here, I just don’t believe officials were the reason we lost on Saturday. That’s all I’m saying

So you can’t pancake a defender anymore? That’s news to me

It has always been bad there - almost playing-at-ND level bad. Play in North Carolina, whether it's the blue bloods like UNC and Duke, or even the stepchildren NC State and Wake, and Miami will always have to beat the officials as well as the other team. **** it is bad enough when we play these teams in Miami, but it's always worse at their stadiums.

Here's my point. Even had we tied the game and sent it into overtime, or even won, they let other teams do things we are not allowed to do. That makes it much, much harder to win a game. Did we not make some plays that would have helped our chances? **** yeah. Guess what, so did UNC. The difference is, they are allowed to hold our players. They are allowed to interfere with our guys. They are allowed those extra bumps in coverage. They are allowed EVERY little thing that we are not. Those little things add up in a big way.

Again, ONE delay of game penalty is insane.

Remember when Randy Shannon was coaching and we were one of the most penalized teams in the country? They justified calling BS penalties because we were the most penalized team in the country. The commentators were all on board with it. Problem is, when **** near half the penalties are BS, and the same calls aren't being called on the other team, how the **** do you overcome that?

Guess I'm just sick of it.

Oh, and don't get me started on the half yard spot differences on **** near every spot.
