With what’s returning and what was added through the portal and recruiting, Miami easily has the best receiving core in college football.

Returning Production:
RSR Cooper Barkate, 6-1 195, 72 RECs, 1,106 YDs, 7 TDs (leading receiver at Duke)
RJR Cam Vaughn, 6-2 185, 35 RECs, 541 YDs, 4 TDs (leading receiver at West Virginia)
RJR Vandrevius Jacobs, 6-0 182, 32 RECs, 548 YDs, 4 TDs (2nd leading receiver at South Carolina)
SO Malachi Toney, 5-11 190, 109 RECs, 1,211 YDs, 10 TDs (Miami leading receiver)
SO John Moore, 6-4 225, 17 RECs, 210 YDs, 2 TDs
SO Daylyn Upshaw, 6-0 195, 7 RECs, 105 YDs, 0 TDs

Total: 272 RECs, 3,721 YDs, 27 TDs



When you look at this group collectively, no wide receiver room in college football comes close to this Miami 2026 receiver room Malachi Toney is already the consensus No. 2 wide receiver in the entire country entering his sophomore season, and the scary part is he's only getting better. On3, ESPN, Athlon Sports, and CBS Sports have all ranked this receiving corps among the nation's elite, with Miami as the only Power Four programs in the country returning two 1,000 yard receivers. Every transfer in this room was the No. 1 or No. 2 receiver at his previous Power Four program, and the returning sophomores are all primed for breakout years with expanded roles. Throw in a quarterback in Darian Mensah P4 leading returning passer, and opposing defensive coordinators will simply have no good answer. This is the deepest, most talented wide receiver room Miami has put together in at least 25 years, and it isn't even close.

Meaning, we will get the top portal QB again if Mensah goes pro. If he comes back, it’s all over for everyone else. I think it’s in the cards, considering he’s getting paid very well, and the QB class is very deep. If he comes back, he could very well be the #1 pick in the ‘28 NFL draft.
 
I wouldn't trade our unit for anyone in America, genuinely. Mostly because I'd never, ever give up Mali.

But I do think Texas and Oregon can make an argument with us. Taint, with JJ, is also in the conversation. But that's it. I can easily make an argument that Miami has the #1 WR corps in America, and on no planet is it any worse than 4th.

That's why I'm glad Miami was able to go out and get a guy that isn't a senior. Gives us the possibility of having 2 years with the same qb.
 
Fantastic returning production. But we're also adding an outstanding Freshman WR group. Wingo was in everyone's top 100 rankings are Parris was not far off.

Curious what's the deepest WR rotation a college team might have. You know Toney and Barkate are going to get a lot of targets. How many others can we get in the rotation? How can you not have Moore, Upshaw, Jacobs, Vaugh, Wingo in the rotation (if healthy)? Is a 7 WR rotation possible?
 
If we can get any serious production on the outside then Miami will have the best unit in the country. Reliability is something that is overlooked and often not taken into account, but between Mali and Barkate, 2/3's of the field is going to be automatic. Especially with the way our RBs are in pass protection.

I would say we probably have the best ecosystem for WRs in the country.

I definitely thinks that’s gonna happen because, I think we’re gonna throw it deep a lot more this year so you need fresh legs in there to run deep crosses and streaks. That’s gonna stretch defenses out and wear down their corners. By the 4th quarter, we will have dudes running wide open and their corners will be too gassed to tackle when Fletcher, Lyle or Pringle busts one outside.

It’ll be interesting to see how Dawson utilizes his weapons during the year and then in the playoffs.
Would love to see us run just enough to keep defenses honest but pass early and often and in 10 personnel preferably, keeping our RBs fresh for the stretch run starting in November. Then really start pounding the rock with relatively fresh RBs with opposing defenses having to use nickel as their base to counter our 10 personnel as those wrs are willing run blockers.

It's insane how much we have on offense. Dawson has so many players to stress defenses it's going to be interesting to see how he goes about using everyone and mixing up the calls. He better not **** this up by being super predictable.
