I can remember a lot of outstanding performances by UM defenders in big games but two of the best were by Bernard “Tiger” Clark In the 88 Orange Bowl replacing a suspended George Mira Jr. He was the defensive MVP, had 14 or 15 tackles, helping shut down the Sooners and earn the Canes NC #2. Then in the 89 ND game the dude was all over the field, had something like 18 tackles and of course the near pick six returned to the ND 10 leading to the go ahead TD after ND tied the game at 10. Tiger and Maurice Crum highlighted a LB group that had Barrow, Jesse Armstead and Darrin Smith as back ups.

Warren Sapp against everyone in his final season (I think it was 94 but someone will correct me). Sapp was all world against FSU.
His game against Nebraska was even more impressive..considering 3 of our DLmen were hurt...including a backup....He was throwing Frazier and Berringer around like Rag dolls for 3 qrtrs..until complete exhaustion set in...One of UMs Greatest Solo DL performances in History...even in a loss...

This is the first thing that comes to my mind also, such a terrible weather game, Water to players ankles and Sean Taylor pulling a Michael Jordan type game.
The craziest part of Sean Taylor's game that day was as incredible as it was, he actually had the chance for not just one, but two more interceptions (check 4:13 and 5:16 of this video). As it stands, I still think he had the best game any safety ever had. Had he made those two interceptions, it would go down as the best game by any defensive player ever IMO.

One that comes to mind is that 89 Notre Dame game and Cortez Kennedy. Was really the key factor in containing their powerful run game and collapsing the pocket consistently
And Tiger cleaning up all over the field. When Mira Jr was suspended, no one knew if Tiger could get it done. Needless to say, he got it done. Place was shaking on the near pick six. Greatest atmosphere of any sporting event I’ve ever seen. Led to NC#3.
