Besides firing or getting rid of his position with UM, what can Mario do (realistically) to succeed here going forward?

I thought we had of this money…where are the analysts that can help Mario with managing the game, the clock/timeouts, personnel, those things alone would probably give us 2 or 3 extra wins this season alone easy fix to me

Keep recruiting like he is

More confidence in his OC

More portal hits like Cohen, Lee and Porter. They are not all going to hit big

Bring in someone to help with game management

Become a student. Go to the forward thinking HCs and coaching seminars and learn how to be a better game day coach.

And hire forward thinking and analytic driven staffers to help prepare you. And become completely hands off.

A lot of pro staff have game clock management staff. Literally their job is to say, “coach, you’ve got 2, with the amount of time left we need to use 1.” That sounds so childish to need a position like that but we said the same thing about “get back” coaches. Now those guys are pretty important.
This is at an entirely different level, but I've seen really good coaches at the middle school level get so into a close game that they lose track of how many time outs are left. I recorded all of my sons games and was on the sideline for one match and actually had to do that for the coach - remind him of time outs.

Mario needs to have a game clock management person on the sidelines for at least the fourth quarter, following him around. And he needs to make the commitment to listen to that person. Mirabal was telling him to take a knee against Georgia Tech and he ignored him.

1. Mario needs to recruit difference makers. There is no speed on offense at all.
2. Rudy Fernandez needs to be fired along with the whole administration.
3. Mario needs a **** of an OC. One that says stfu and let me coach bc if not your *** is fired.
4. Go into the Portal and recruit speed!! Lots of speed. Once you think you have enough, recruit more speed. For the love of god.

Find a homeless man on the side of the road to take over in game coaching and timeouts.
Don't have to look that far .... my wife could do a better job ... she was screaming her head off "take a time out" what is he doing?

Keep stacking top 10 classes. From there it will work itself out.

One top 10 class on campus, and he took over a completely broken culture.

This is from
Someone who wanted Lane and/or Freeze over Mario. Mario will be successful here.

The first thing is discipline. Mario enforced it for like 2 games. Game 1 he pulled Taylor after a penalty and then Cohen for the same thing a game or two later.

Need more support staff cause in game coaching is awful. Delegate clock management to someone else. Dawson needs some smarter people around him, I think he tries to outthink himself sometimes and gets away from what works. And shake up the entire special teams coaching.

The thing with Mario is always the same, he needs to hit on coaching hires. The only other thing he can do rn, is to hit the portal aggressively for talent.

It’s been said before and it’s pretty simple. He has to stockpile so much talent that you almost can’t ***** it up even with poor coaching on game day.

Get some mental help and realize he’s not what he thinks he is. Then, humble himself and surrender responsibility to others that are better than him at what he thinks he does well. Many coaches become good because they surround themselves with the right assistants and delegate authority.

Unfortunately, the chances of this happening to an ego like Mario are slim to none. He will probably fire this guy, fire that guy and hire more ‘yes’ men that will adhere to his philosophy. Rearranging the chairs on the Titanic is not a solution.

From the results while here, he is not a good coach, a worse gameday coach (his clock management skills are legendary bad, pee wee coaches are more aware than him). However he is paid a lot of money to do what he’s not very good at. - coach. Thus, you are basically between a rock and a hard place until you get rid of him.

This isn’t personal. I supported him 100% upon the hire and still wish him to succeed. But it’s painfully obvious that outside of recruiting, his presence is a liability to the program.

From his perspective, it’s his way or the highway and he’s got 80,000,000 reasons why he will go down with the sinking ship. He truly believes no one else knows what they are talking about when they criticize him and because of that, he won’t change.

It’s classic denial.

Ironically, I think most private companies would eat it at this point and fire him. You can’t have an incompetent CEO running the empire. The sooner they are gone, the better. Keeping him
around only delays the inevitable and continues affecting the business. Miami will lost much more money by keeping him at the helm than they would by making a change now. It happens all the time - it’s business not personal. However, no way the university does this for whatever reason.

Unfortunately, we fans will endure underperforming results while he is here.

Go in the booth on game days put on a headset with his favorite jams so people think he's involved in the game just to make it seem legit have another goofball in there so they can mumble meaningless stuff back n forth

Assuming he won't resign he needs to not be involved with the offense at all. He also needs Zo or basically anyone else to hire the offensive coordinators going forward.

Actually, let's focus on what he's actually good at as that is much faster. He needs to focus on recruiting and the o-line and that's literally it. He's very good at those two things and dog**** at everything else.
Excellent post. But it won’t happen. His ego won’t allow it.
