Berrios reacts to Miami offer

“That’s what I was going after when I came out to The Opening. I wasn’t going after Nike gear or a free trip to Oregon. I was going after respect and I’ve always really felt that I’ve never gotten it. I’ve always felt there was nobody that I’ve seen that is head above heels better than me and that there wasn’t a DB who could shut me down. I think I did get it and that was the perfect stage to get it. I don’t know what’s going to happen over the next month because of it, but regardless I got it.

:neonu:

Love that attitude. Similar to Herb Waters recruitment IMO.

I agree that we should only wait for Lane/Dixon and Cook until NSD. But god **** why does every kid have to commit on the spot or else? Cats on here are following Jojo Robinson around like a lapdog hoping he decommits and that guy isnt even that good to me. Especially at WR. But this kid cant wait it out and look at all his options like Jojo? And dont let me get started on Brandon Powell. Let BB have his day in the sun. If he gets left out, oh well. At least we will know that means that Dixon and Rudolph or Lane has committed.

LULZ at UM fans wanting a guy to look around for a better option. There ain't no better option than UM.

There isnt a better option for you, me, and the 30,000 other TRUE UM fans we have, Franch. But to these kids, who could really give two $hits about the fatigue game, our 5 titles, us being NFL U, and all the other history we have, its the biggest decision of there life. I would rather him be 100% sure he wants to be here instead of him committing then de-committing in 6 months. Im sure Al agrees. If he doesnt he will move on.

I don't think that it's about wanting him to "look around for a better option." Obviously all the Miami fans on the board would love for him to commit. We just don't want to promote bad will on the board towards a kid who is -- by consensus projection -- probably going to sign with Miami. The fact that he did not instantly commit when presented with the opportunity is an absurd thing to hold against him.

Honey nut Berrios is my favorite Saturday morning breakfast...

Now, go enjoy your visits, and commit sept 8th after we beat the Gates. Or, maybe in October at the NC game....either way, do it, and get the others in "our class" signed and sealed.

Most of us expected him to commit quickly. If he doesn't perhaps we should give Al even more slack; he seems to have been a little more hesitant than us. That said, hurry up kid!

I don't give a **** about any of that. There ain't no better option than UM. Want to get to the NFL? Who has put more successful players there over the last 20 years? Want a great education? UM's the best in the state and one of the best in major college football. Small classes with hands-on instruction? UM. Gorgeous serene campus in the middle of a very affluent city? UM You like the night life? UM. You want to hang out in shorts and tshirts in February? UM.

So spare me with all that "you living in the glory years, and this is SEC time!!!" horseshyt. You dudes are supposed to be UM fans. Love this ****. Shed the inferiority complex. Top to bottom there's nothing better.

Don't tell that to the U's fanbase.

That's what happens when your own fans treat the school like a professional franchise. They start looking at other franchises and thinking they're better than ours. Not even close top to bottom.

They don't know our brand/product and they're "fans."

All true, and all very valid reasons for a kid to want to go to Miami. However, they'll also be a small fish in a big pond. If they want hero worship from an entire city, chicks falling over themselves to 'service' them, boosters with deep pockets and a governing body that doesn't seem to care, packed stadiums every game, tailgaters that show up 3 days before the game, rabid fanbases with hundreds of thousands of alumnae....well, we aren't going to satisfy those needs. That's not an inferiority complex either. Different programs have different strengths and weaknesses, and our weaknesses just don't happen to match with a lot of what these kids really value.

Inferiority complex.

Their decision may also be the biggest decision they ever had to make, which eventually will shape their future/football career. How many here can actually relate to their exact situation?

Right. Let him do his due diligence, as they say in law and finance, check all the options, make sure it's absolutely the right decision. He'll end up at UM in the end. Sometimes you take the person with the burning desire instead of the diva. Berries has that fire in his belly. He's no diva, like some of the south FL kids.

Inferiority complex? Hmmm..Maybe you are changing the argument. I said let the man weigh his options. You are saying F the SEC. Who said anything about the SEC? I hate the SEC more then you do. Lol! We are fans. Of course I want him to commit in the next hour. But if he doesnt oh well. I have been following recruiting since 1988. Ive seen cats come and go. I was around when people said the world stopped for an entire week when Marvin Jones signed with FSU. Stop getting so emotional over this crap. It is what it is. We will be just fine whether he decides to commit or not. Fade to black on this because I cant believe I am arguing over Braxton Berrios. LOL!

If this was a south florida kid some of you would be bashing the **** out of him for not committing as soon as he got the offer. This kid should commit pretty **** soon or all of that previous talk is bolshevik imo.

I think he'll come on board sooner than later. Maybe he's duped most of us, but his enthusiasm and love for our program seems genuine. And as Franchise said, there isn't a better option.
