Not to rehash that memory but yeah it wasn’t just the take a knee thingHe has definitely earned respect for putting us here.
Specifically, I would like to officially kill the whole take-a-knee thing. I was constantly told it was catastrophic because it would make a laughingstock out of us. And yet, this was the only place I ever saw it mentioned with clowns trying to score cheap points and get laughs at Mario’s expense.
It’s time to let it go for good. He’s earned some redemption. I suggest an automatic 90 day ban for the next clown that brings it up.
I think many of us had some trepidation when Mario was hired. Something not talked about enough is the university making the $$$ commitment to compete with the big dogs. Between Herbie’s statement and Mario saying he’s not coming without that commitment, we’d still be in CFB purgatory. Was never a big fan of the hire. Didn’t hate it, didn’t love it. I thought at minimum he would build us a good foundation but did not think we would be able to crack the SEC/BIG stranglehold on college football
I was wrong
Tough and physical is no longer a punchline
It’s why we are gonna **** Indiana up
To me all I cared about was the overall commitment we were seeingI think many of us had some trepidation when Mario was hired. Herbie deserves some serious creditI think many of us had some trepidation when Mario was hired. ?Respect and congrats, but I absolutely loathe that phrase the title. It bugs the ever living **** out of me.
i think folks underplay mario's credibility ... he had the juice to get the money right, but also has the juice locally ... you don't hear the stories of high schools getting out of pocket like you did during the manny and golden era ... mario can walk in any high school in south florida walk the walk and talk the talk in english and spanishI think many of us had some trepidation when Mario was hired. What is amazing but lost, is Miami is once again at the forefront of change in CFB with NIL/Portal acquisitions, etc. I remember the tag on him from Duck fans and a lot of CIS residents saying “Welcome to 9-10 win seasons, with an occasional bowl appearance. He chokes on the big stage.” I too, am guilty of ragging on him after the GT fiasco. Well, even if the team does not win tonight, the greater trajectory is one to marvel at. He’s shown he’s willing to learn to be great. We’re in not just good hands, we’re in excellent hands. To me all I cared about was the overall commitment we were seeing
College football has changed dramatically in the last 3 years and we’ve seen some programs get left in the dust
We were already on life support
Undoubtedly, Mario has exceeded many’s expectations. Even Echaverria said they were a year ahead of schedule. Mario, and many others, have stated that he’s building the program to be sustainable. Obviously, time will tell but he’s off to a helluva start. What amazing but lost, is Miami is once again at the forefront of change in CFB with NIL/Portal acquisitions, etc. I remember the tag on him from Duck fans and a lot of CIS residents saying “Welcome to 9-10 win seasons, with an occasional bowl appearance. Foundation in place (not very different from Schnelly’s), keys can be handed over to another coach (hopefully years from now), and success can continue.Undoubtedly, Mario has exceeded many’s expectations. tf ... you been here since 2012, you seen ****** coaching, you see coaches moving from team to team, this dude chose miami and will ALWAYS choose miami ... he deserves flowers on that alone, now add to the fact that he has us on the doorstep of a natty, I WANT TONIGHT BADDD!!! but if we don't get it, look at the health of our program ... it's all because of this guy

Mario didn't want to be hugged with 18 seconds left, I am not giving him flowers just for coaching here. He is a big part of the success. Live from the Hard Rock, I appreciate the run. I appreciate this team deciding they weren't dead after SMU. I appreciate Mario adapting. There is no better story in sports than for a Miami guy bringing Miami back. If we don't beat ourselves, that happens tonight and Mario raises another trophy and Miami will be BACK.
