Yup. A great coach who has been at Utah since 1994 as a position coach, before taking over as head coach in 2005 after Urban Meyer left.
This bone-brained mentality is one of a zillion things wrong with this fan base; a belief that if you want a guy or write him a check, that's it. He'll coming running.
Whittingham has had better offers over the years. Dude is happy living in Salt Lake City, where he has been for over 25 years now.
It's home, he's raising a family there and he has a great job at a perfect-fit school for him—similar to the reason Gary Patterson always turns down offers to leave TCU.
Miami is a niche job in an unforgiving pro sports town, with an off-campus stadium, a small student body, limited fan support (by way of small alum base)—and limited funding, as most fans aren't alum and don't write checks to the school.
There is no way in God's green earth, or Joseph Smith's magical-underwear-universe that Wittingham ever would've, or ever would leave the University of Utah for the University of Miami.
Great, you suggested something over a decade ago that always had a 0% chance of ever happening—as proven by the fact Whittingham is still at Utah.
Southern Cal has gone after him a few times—the crown jewel program from his home state—and he never budged .... but he would've come to train-wreck Miami in 2011 if UM's admin just went after him. Got it.
****, I feel like he is slept on quite a bit. Would his Mormon religion keep him from a big city like Miami though?
First and foremost, Happy Thanksgiving to all of you.
Moving on to my the main subject... We should have hired Kyle Whittingham after firing Randy Shannon.

- Coached under Urban Meyer 2003
- This man consistently develops his players.
- Has maintained a clean program for well over a decade.
- Recruits South Florida Kids.
- Win's his bowl games (11-2)
- Win's over 70% of his games (130–62)
- Has won his Division 3 times 2015, 2018, 2019
- Makes $4.2 Million per year and we could have gotten him at a bargain 10 years ago.
BTW, I don't care that he's a mormon and if you think he wouldnt come here.

Now this thread has to come with a rant...
The truth is... When you have a burning desire to win and it's genuine you do whatever it takes and not settle.
But let's be real... This administration and board of trustees doesn't truly care about winning.
This administration treat's you like a king when you donate big and blankets you with their narative.
But as soon as you question the narative and, or criticize the direction of the program they are quick to censor you and just ask you for more donations.
Unless your donating 7 figures, are a major sponsor, or a board member your just not important enough for them to weigh your perspective.
The expectations here are low and as long as you maintain bowl eligibility and beat 50% of your Rivals your good to go. This is the same board of trustees that will preach a false sense of hope and brag about beating sub par teams like Duke after the worst lost in school history.
Rotary phones can be hard to use...I don’t think Hecht has working lines to the outside world.

He might not leave Utah for here but you don't know until you ask him.maybe he didn't like what USC offered him.Yup. A great coach who has been at Utah since 1994 as a position coach, before taking over as head coach in 2005 after Urban Meyer left.
