Beck

Every single person on this board that made any statement that implied or hinted that beck (or our offense last year) would be anything close to cam should be banned for life
they tried to blame cam so much for the flop last year was given the offense we had thanks to cam. they not appreciate cam. people pointed to his bad game and even in his bad, his counting stats were as good as becks best game this year (FSU).

There is really no comparison between Beck's and TVD's resume. So while both may have been projected as 1st rounders at one time, Beck at least had the bonafides of playing in a much tougher conference and winning championships while TVD never reached that kind of level.

That said Beck is plainly a system qb and needs to stop thinking he can single handedly win games for you like Ward did. If he plays within the system he has and executes he will be fine.

In 2024 he had a relatively subpar oline, lack of consistent running game, and his receivers struggled to catch the ball. He probably felt he had to over compensate for that leading to his forcing the ball and making ill advised throws. Friday night against Louisville was a microcosm of his 2024 season due to similar issues.

The other night was a fiasco from top to bottom from coaches to players so I don't totally blame Beck for the loss. Hopefully, this is just a bump on the road and not the edge of the cliff and the team regains their focus because there is still a lot to play for though our margin for error has gotten smaller.
I agree with you on the first part about the Beck and TVD comparisons. I was just pointing out that Preseason NFL projections don’t really mean much and used TVD as example.

Was the Team a mess from top to bottom.. definitely. But when your QB is the one pouring gas on the fire instead of water.. he deserves as much blame as the coaches. When you have a history of multi INT games in your history and the issue still shows up again. I’m going to bet that you have another game in the chamber this season.

All the issue that Beck ran into at UGA in 2024 was not an issue last Friday. The Oline did good job pass blocking and WR/TE were open. As much experience Beck has…bad decision shouldn’t be a issue at this point.

Hopefully he bounces back but a system QB not playing in the system is a scary thing.

him touching his elbow after INts is a bigger concern than the post game presser. either way, short of having a Cam ward like end to the season, he isnt getting drafted.
are you saying that because you're wondering if he's genuinely hurt or because you think we was doing that to garner sympathy?

I'll wait until end of season before judging Beck but, going forward, we need to get away from having statues playing the position. We need QBs that can scare opposing defenses, especially when they don't have to respect the QB as a legit ballcarrier who can extend the pocket and/or get the yards on critical downs. This isn't the 1980s anymore.
While I tend to agree with you the number 1 team in the nation has one.

In 7 games played he has a total of 17 yards rushing. 2 of the games he played he finished with negative rushing yards.

Just like we warned fsu fans Tommy was trash and quit on his team
Just like we warned Florida fans lagway was not him and no practice would be an issue

We were warned by uga fans about beck
Everything they said about him and disliked We are getting

Moral of the story opposing fans generally give more objective truthful statements about players
He underperformed but Miami should have more counters when defenses show that they know what Miami is going to do (Run into the interior gaps and throw to the sideline in response to pre-snap pressure looks).

Script more plays if his judgment is shaky.

Rewatching the game, man alive Beck was even worse than I thought against USF. The 5 consecutive drives after our first TD were horrendous. Some additional lowlights from the FG drive before the half and the first drive of the 3q:
  • 2:49 2q, stays on #7, 2nd guessing and not ripping the ball to him when he's open initially on the sideline, then threw it to him when he was covered, when he had #9 coming wide open in the end zone (then he misses Toney open for a TD on the next play. Two chances in a row to get 4 more points that he gave away. We lost by 3 points)
  • 14:16 3q, he comes off his first read (#9) then is staring at a wide-open Toney, who had room to run, then doesn't throw him the ball. Since the OL pass pro was amazing, he still has time to look at Fletcher on the swing - also wide open - does not throw it him either, then he finally decides to loft a ball over the corner to Daniels off-schedule, which he's lucky didn't get picked too.
  • 14:05 3q (the next play), scrambles for no reason (no pressure), doesn't even look at #9 who was open on the outbreaking route, nor allow the 2 receivers running deep to run their routes. Just complete panic.
He looked shellshocked out there after the first two INTs. Similar stuff on the 3rd INT drive too, when he missed Toney for the TD on the sprint out and some other stuff. Rewatching Dawson's midweek presser after the USF game last night, he noted when asked about 2 picks that "it's going to happen, it's how the QB reacts after that matters, and I was impressed how he reacted after the picks." (paraphrasing) The complete opposite happened against UL. He made bad decisions, paid the price with picks, then let it affect him the rest of the game.
The key here is that he sometimes panics. He did it last year. I’m all over the board last year (before knowing we’d get him) talking about how I disliked watching him play for that reason. What I want to know is how we haven’t prepared exactly for it by including a lot more PA. He’s supposedly elite presnap. He doesn’t appear elite post-snap. So, basically hold his hand ala TVD vs Boston College in 2023. Absolutely cannot do that calling such a tight, predictable run game. I still think we can win 11 games, by the way. I now don’t expect it, but a well-prepared team with our advantages would.

The biggest lie @DMoney told this off-season was Beck is an athletic and mobile QB. Dude has been a total statue,
