Beck ESPN

What about 2023 when he had a running game? Where his OL protected him? He threw 6 in 14 games. Cam threw 7 in 13 last year.

Beck became so “overrated” that he is now severely underrated. The truth lies in the middle, he’s not a 1:1 pick, but he **** sure is better than what most people think. Chances are he’s the highest QB (besides Cam) UM has drafted in past 25 years.
I mean yeah what we need is a return to 2023 form, that'd be excellent. Except we need more Big time throws, period.

But its just factual that 2024 as a senior which accounts for half his starts, he threw too many picks. 23 he had 6 games with 1 int, never had 2 or more in a game. In 24 he had THREE games with 3 INTs and another game with 2 INTs, and then a final game with 1 INT. That's objectively bad and how you LOSE games by yourself. He played HORRRIBLE against Texas and then in the SEC champ game started off bad again before getting injured.

Look at the Under pressure and when Blitzed from 24 to 23. This is THE #1 area of concern for Beck and #1 by far area of improvement we need to soo. He had a 9.4% Turnover worthy play rate under pressure last season. That was 5.2% in 2023. 12 out of Becks 18 INTs over last 2 seasons have been throwing over the middle of the field under 20 yards...

Like look at that fumble grade from ward... Horrible in 2023. But even Wards Turnover worthy play and big time throw rate. Under pressure in 23 TWP was under 5% and BTT over 7%. For beck in 23 that was >5% and under 3% respectively. In 24 Ward was 7.5% TWP and and 7.6% BTT vs Becks 9.4% and 6.3% respecitvely.... Basically Beck isn't creating enought big time plays for how many turnovers he was forcing. Simple as that.

Thank god he now plays behind a top 10 OL in America. This showed me everything I already knew, Beck with a clean pocket is an elite/good as it gets passer. Even with mistakes he graded out over 80 last year and top 10 in QBR…. There’s no denying his talent. Dawson got him another one

Bobo as the OC
Subpar WR room…lots of drops
No TE
Poor run game

These don’t help a QB

Sure, he could’ve made better decisions at times, but he still suited up and went to battle with what he was given

It's not so much he's an Interception machine, it's that the Interceptions he does throw are BAD.

Like, burner PrizePicks-Cash-Out-My-Boys BAD.
You mean like Cam against VTech and Duke, or even worse against Cal? That level of bad, not as bad, or worse?

It’s this stretch he was pretty bad last year. You hope it’s the combination of what’s been discussed here with weak WR room etc.

He did have 10 TDs / 12 INTs against these teams. Went 4-2 but not great. The UF/TX game especially.
Atleast one pick against UT was completely the receiver fault for running the wrong route.

Give him time to set his feet and he’s really good. Our O line is very good bordering on Elite. Our run game will def help.
He also has 2 years of experience in the toughest conference.
I will be shocked if he goes out and just throws and prays.

It's his money season, similar to Wards. Dudes a highly self-motivated "kid".... Listen to Storm Sessions interview and tell me dude isn't a focused SOB. In Dawson's offense, I think he's going to excel, so long as the talent at WR by committee steps up.
I thought his comments about the guys on offense and the team in general were very genuine. He didn't have to be that effusive in his praise. He seems pretty happy with the offense and the guys he is playing with.

He certainly know’s what it’s supposed to look like and agree he seems genuinely happy with Dawson’s offense and the guys he getting to play with - especially the OL.

1000% agree. I'm more optimistic than ever after hearing that, and in general, here's another vet that spoke volumes about the atmosphere and work ethic that Mario and coaches have instilled in these student athletes.

Stop lending credence to narrative building bull****.

Beck had the same season as Nuss and one is hailed as a Heisman contender and one is trash.

Aguilar I think led the country in interceptions last year. He transfers to UCLA and nobody cares. But as soon as he goes to Tenn, everybody with a podcast and a screen start breaking down film like he’s the next Peyton Manning.

So, Carson started 27 games and had 20 interceptions,.. 1.35 average per game. The outlier is the 2024 season w/12. Notably with a poor/suspect Ga. Receiving corp. Beck’s a competitor and has that junk yard dog attitude. He’s going to try and fit the ball into tight spots and make plays. Comes down to talent, repetitions, confidence and muscle memory. As good as We think Beck is, that will grow as the season progresses. That SEC BS is just that sour grape Horses**t F**k the SEC. And .. oh Yeah F**k ND GoCanes🙌🏽
Psst, just change it to average games per Int. No one’s looking.

It was true in both cases. Cam drastically improved his carelessness with fumbling (or Miamis OL helped there)… and that specifically only bit us in the *** 2min game winning drive against GTech when he fumbled it. He did still show his absolute wtf are you doing cross field int problem. But other than those like 4-5 plays, he was truly excellent. Down by down he was pretty **** careful/secure with the ball.

Beck has to do similar. I’m not particularly worried about fumbling with Beck. But anyone who isn’t concerned about Becks performance when pressured is absolutely lying to themselves and/or others. Ward under pressure may have had turnovers but it was usually genuinely because he was trying to turn dog**** into gold (and has done so a lot). Beck it seems it more of a panicked typical poor decision. Like Ward will make the total wtf are you doing cross body throw, but Beck will just throw normal interceptions which in a way is actually worse imo…
Beck's interceptions are too decisive to be panicked.

When he's pressured, he's gets rid of quickly, confidently, but is sometimes just wrong.
