Beck ain’t it, whiffed on Mendoza

it’s not just the interceptions. He’s not on target even on his completions. Even Kirk herbstreit called it out last night. Go back and watch ND, USF, and UF his throws are off in a way that cause the receivers to lose momentum; getting tackled for a loss on screens or no gain otherwise. Stats against power 5 ain’t all that great: 68%, 705 yards, 5 tds, 3 ints “ wah wah🎺🎺”. He’s averaging 235 yds/game 1.66 tds and 1 int. That ain’t gonna get it done in the playoffs and a lot of you schlubs are gonna be butt hurt when it’s a tight game and he throws a pick on a game ending 2 minute drive.

Meanwhile hometown kid Fernando Mendoza tosses 5 tds against a top ten with no ints on the season. But hey loafers don’t lie.

Bring on

We are where we are but this beck slurping has to stop. Defense is playing at a championship level, so is the Oline, as are the running backs. Fletcher needs to get it out of mind he ain’t 5’9, physics don’t work the same way when your 6’2. He needs to stop trying to juke people out because he’s only done once in three years. The tight end play has been wanting, receivers are good not great. Same with beck, he’s good but he ain’t great
Fletcher is 15th in the nation, and is averaging 5.9ypc. He’s nowhere near an issue to address offensively.

The amount of misery in your heart to get all the way down to complaining about Fletcher is sad to see Mr Truckernutz

No doubt Mendoza is looking great, but Beck had one off game, and it started with trying to throw in a rainstorm and he never got back on track. Is he the best QB in college , maybe not. Is he a top 8 QB and more than good enough for Miami to get into or even win the playoffs... absolutely.

One thing he really needs to work on is getting air under the ball when necessary. One of his INTs against USF was because he threw a laser that was tipped by Toney into the DBs hand, when it was intended for a receiver a level deeper down the field. The UF interception was also a laser that was low enough for the DB to intercept it. He also had another similar throw against the Gators that fell incomplete. All three were perfectly on target if there was no one else on the field, but with layered receivers and DBs they were too flat and needed more loft and touch.

Oh look, another dumbass "Fan" racing to make irrational judgments after a WIN, albeit one where Miami didn't put up 50. Was this Beck's best outing? Of course not, he was completing **** near 80% of his passes before last night, and that number dropped to barely over fifty. That said, there's a reason why Beck is still projected to be a top end NFL draft pick, and Mendoza is exactly who he has always been: A QB that will feast on mediocrity, but struggle when faced with teams with a pulse. He isn't a difference maker, he's a very good college QB. Then again, if you would have actually looked at who IU has played, you'd know that some of this is fool's gold.

One of the worst performance I have ever seen from a Miami Qb. If he cannot throw a ball in the wet rain then him and his receivers need to spend hours each week in the pouring rain playing 7 vs 7. He was throwing balls into the ground last night on 10 yard throws. Honestly looked like he was throwing with his left hand instead of his right. Beyond pathetic. Mendoza from Indiana would have been a much better pick up and was a huge mistake not to get him. Mateer from Okahoma is a 100 times better.
Wow, your entire post is ridiculous overstatement

OP isn't completely wrong about Beck.

I disagree on the Mendoza thing though.

I still think getting Beck was the best choice.

But last night really had me thinking that if Cam was on THIS team, I think we are a shoe in to go to the National Title game.

I do think Beck will play better at FSU. But the rest is yet to be determined. All we can do is watch him progress.
Cam is a once in a decade player, you're much more likely to find multiple Carson Beck types. Beck isn't Cam, few are, but he's more than good enough to win a ton of games and have you in position to compete for championships. You don't do what he did at Georgia, despite obvious offensive erosion, without a bit of talent.

Beck is going to be fine-He’s done everything asked of him and more-He’s been better than most thought-

Ok, he had a poor game-I expect him to bounce back vs FSU-He’s mature enough to handle adversity and his experience is invaluable.

Turn on the sprinklers during practice on Greentree...

Copying my response from another thread as it’s more appropriate for this one:

Did any of you Mendoza slurpers watch any of his game?

Yes 5 td’s as follows

1. check down to RB behind the line of scrimmage runs 10 yards for Td
2. Really nice throw to TE up the middle TD
3. Screen pass to RB for 50+ yard TD
4.Wide open receiver in the end zone
5. Pretty wide open receiver in the middle of the field.

He’s a good QB. But not as good as everyone makes him out to be. I think when it’s all said and done, Beck will show he’s the better QB and was the better option for our offense.

By no means am I slandering him, just saying from what I’ve seen from him, it looks like a lot of what he did against us last year. Check downs and screens that the players take to the end zone

Everyone needs to lay off this guy, his track record with early season QB takes have been nothing short of prophetic.

Both things are true. He’s getting a majority of those yards in the right side of the line. And on those runs he’s not touched until after running past the los. Imo he’s got a good game but not elite. Im saying he needs to be using the truck stick instead of the juke stick. I also think he’d be an elite linebacker
