I was hacked!
Set the record for touchdowns in a game in 2019, I think.Am I misremembering things, or was Jarren's best game here one where he diced up Louisville?
Is that what the kids call being drunk these days?I was hacked!
Trollit’s not just the interceptions. He’s not on target even on his completions. Even Kirk herbstreit called it out last night. Go back and watch ND, USF, and UF his throws are off in a way that cause the receivers to lose momentum; getting tackled for a loss on screens or no gain otherwise. Stats against power 5 ain’t all that great: 68%, 705 yards, 5 tds, 3 ints “ wah wah”. He’s averaging 235 yds/game 1.66 tds and 1 int. That ain’t gonna get it done in the playoffs and a lot of you schlubs are gonna be butt hurt when it’s a tight game and he throws a pick on a game ending 2 minute drive.
Meanwhile hometown kid Fernando Mendoza tosses 5 tds against a top ten with no ints on the season. But hey loafers don’t lie.
Bring on the hate![]()
He'll do the same thing.
Go watch Louisville play defense. They have 7/8 guys up on the line all the time. Miami's not going to be able to run. But the reason I think Beck will have a spectacular day against them is because they tend to crash down hard on the RPO's. The sell out for the run constantly. There's going to be a lot over the top. Similar to FSU.
Hindsight is 20/20.In the offseason, I preferred Mendoza for a few simple reasons:
1. he'd be signiifcantly cheaper than Beck and I hoped we could use the leftover money (maybe even millions $) on better playmakers around Mendoza. This is assuming the NIL money would stay the same.
2. He's more likeable than Beck.
3. He's seems to be a better leader than Beck. He always elevated the players around him and they played hard for him.
4. Didn't come with all the baggage/distractions Beck came with.
5. No injury for spring ball.
I never knew whether he'd actually be a better QB than Beck during the season but I thought the gap was a small enough difference that Mendoza + other playmakers + spring ball would be > than just Beck...
Wow, it's strange, I didn't realize so many people on this board had preferred Mendoza over Beck all along. Must have been confusing things with another board. I know for sure I didn't think Mendoza was going to be better than Beck. I'm not afraid to admit it
Give it some time. They’ll be a few out there that’ll bump threads and comment “I told ya so!”Should we start bumping Mendoza threads?
interesting, maybe the game plans the O.C.'s have drawn up, help Fernando. I didn't see Indiana, running up the middle, the whole game against Oregon. Perfect example, Daniel Jones of the Colts, guy was absolutely terrible with the Giants, now he is the second coming of Johnny Unitas.Wow, it's strange, I didn't realize so many people on this board had preferred Mendoza over Beck all along. I preferred Mendoza because I watched Beck at Georgia and the ABBA song Fernando.
In all honesty I didn't think so either. Granted, I only saw him play once, but I wasn't that impressed by his game against Miami last year. I chalked up most of the success he had to our terrible defense - everyone was scoring on us last year.Wow, it's strange, I didn't realize so many people on this board had preferred Mendoza over Beck all along. Gignetti was just asked something about being worried or along those lines - he said you can't play scared, we need to attack! That **** is refreshing to hear from the head guy and see him coach that way vs some of the stuff we see on saturdays. I became a Canes fan in the era everyone feared playing Miami and the attitude was attack on every play. I miss that. The stats are the stats, FM is playing much better football, and so is IU. That said, we wouldn't be helping him quite as much as IU/Cignetti do.
