Beamer quote on Duke Johnson

Duke is the undisputed leader of this team and the game has really slowed down for him. Edge, Portis, McGahee, Gore etc were great and Duke is right with them and it's great to watch. He had 90 yards in the first half against FSU last year before getting hurt so I'm excited to see what he does this year to a unit that doesn't appear to be as stout as they were last year. Duke had his best most complete game tonight IMO

He got hurt at the end of the third quarter against FSU

I stand corrected, my bad! Duke ran strong in that game up to that point and I'm expecting him to improve on that performance

They also called back what would have been a ~70 yard TD on a GARBAGE one handed tackle. Duke was playing lights out that night.

I'd also like to applaud the great Al Golden for putting Duke back in the game late in the 4th quarter up by 24. The only way to toughen up his knee ligaments and bones is to take more shots on them.

I liken that strategy to feeding a little poison to a junkyard dog to build up his immunity to it in case some scoundrel tries to poison him and break into the junkyard. Al fed Duke a little poison last night, and his leg will be stronger because of it.

In my opinion he's the best RB I've ever seen play at UM, only Edge comes close. Willis and Gore ran behind some of the best O lines we've ever had here, while Duke has ran behind some shaky lines his whole career. Watch the replay of this VT game tonight, most of Dukes huge runs came after making one or two defenders miss at the LOS. Duke is the complete package, great feet work, great hands, A1 vision and the best stiff arm I've ever seen from someone his size!
Oh c'mon, Duke had some gaping holes tonight.

He's a great player, but please don't act like tonight was all him. The Oline stepped up in a big way.

It wasn't all him, but some of those runs were glorious. Hopping over guys...weaving in and out of traffic...stiff arming dudes to the ground. **** was just fun to watch.

Maniac, are you saying our 2012 OC jedd fisch was fired? That did not happen.that hurts your credibility. Duke runs bad when good teams invade our backfield

I'm not looking for credibility and was talking about Duke, but you are correct Jedd wasn't fired....but a lot of people wanted it and nobody was crying when he left.. Go look up the facts and you'll see in those games Duke wasn't used and our team sucked all around. If your logic is he's overrated because he's not a good runner when good teams invade our backfield - I wouldn't talk about credibility.

He had 97 yards when he got hurt but does anyone remember that play where Duke broke 3 tackles changed field and was about to run for an 80 yard TD in the 2nd quarter then the refs blew that bull**** whistle saying his progress was stopped. That play still burns in my mind, Duke is coming for revenge, win or lose FSU won't stop him

^^That **** ****ed me off so bad.

I'm just happy that he got to have his night in front of a National Television audience.

It's awesome that the country got to see what kind of talent this kid has.

...and I really hope to see more of these next season, with Duke wearing a U on his helmet.

What Duke did last night was just an intro for the FSU game, and when he turned his ankle in that last play, then got up limping, Im sure he said to himself..."NO, not before FSU!" Its on.

This year's FSU defense is very good, but not in the same league as last years. Duke will get the rock like Ottis Anderson versus Florida in 1978 or EJ versus UCLA in 1998. They'll ride him on the 15th. Bank on it.

it's gonna take 200+ against FSU if we want to have a chance to win. Duke will be ready as he'll know it's his last big chance as a Miami Hurricane.
