Beamer quote on Duke Johnson

In my opinion he's the best RB I've ever seen play at UM, only Edge comes close. Willis and Gore ran behind some of the best O lines we've ever had here, while Duke has ran behind some shaky lines his whole career. Watch the replay of this VT game tonight, most of Dukes huge runs came after making one or two defenders miss at the LOS. Duke is the complete package, great feet work, great hands, A1 vision and the best stiff arm I've ever seen from someone his size!

Duke's stiff-arm reminds me of a guy with similar size and stature and he lives in the heart of many football purist. "Sweetness" The Great Walter Payton. Like Payton, for guy his size, Duke uses that wicked stiff-arm that is perfectly timed. I like when slapped that DB to the ground in the 2nd half! A thing of beauty.

And some UM fans say he's 'overrated'...

Yeah, seriously, Ive heard that...

If you're looking at his production vs FSU, UF, K State, Notre Dame, Louisville...I could see the 'overrated' argument.

2012
Duke got 6 carriers against K-state
Duke got 8 carriers against ND
Dude got 9 carries vs FSU
That is not Duke being over-rated but our offensive coordinator sucking donkey balls, which is why he was fired, and our defense not keeping us in games and giving up 40+ points

2013
Duke got 23 carries for 97 yards against FSU's D
Didn't play Louisville because he was hurt

2014
Duke got 20 carries for 90 yards against Louisville in one of the worst openign night play calling games of Coley's carrier - handcuffed by fat Al.

Our team has sucked, our corches have certainly sucked - but I've never seen Duke not run hard, or be over-rated.

Oh c'mon, Duke had some gaping holes tonight.

He's a great player, but please don't act like tonight was all him. The Oline stepped up in a big way.

Duke is up there with the U greats -- Portis, Gore, McGahee, Edge, Foreman, Anderson, and Highsmith. Now Duke.

None of those guys is in the College Football Hall of Fame. Only one UM RB has ever made it there: Don Bosseler.

Kid is a baller and played his *** off last night. I'm very happy for him, we only have 4 or 5 games left to enjoy him as a Cane.

2nd best skill player in the nation behind Gurley, future NFL feature back.

Not sure why some are/were surprised.

Love Duke...but its hard to get much better as a pure RB than Gore before the knee injuries

And our OL is better this year. Plus Noles DL is not as good as last year.....just sayin'

Duke is the undisputed leader of this team and the game has really slowed down for him. Edge, Portis, McGahee, Gore etc were great and Duke is right with them and it's great to watch. He had 90 yards in the first half against FSU last year before getting hurt so I'm excited to see what he does this year to a unit that doesn't appear to be as stout as they were last year. Duke had his best most complete game tonight IMO

I wish our coaches knew this and stuck with him more. I'm not talking about when we're up by 3 scores in the 4th quarter.

Randy Johnson, Jr. is a great football player and running back. He certainly belongs in the pantheon of greats at UM, but I am not sure that he's better than Gore or McGahee.

Maniac, are you saying our 2012 OC jedd fisch was fired? That did not happen.that hurts your credibility. Duke runs bad when good teams invade our backfield

With all due respect, most, if not all, RBs look terrible when the opposing defense invades their backfield. Randy Johnson, Jr. is not alone in that.
