Be a Cheeseburger

Haha. No shame. A lot of us bought in at the beginning.

I was actually tailgating in the back lot of Lockhart at his first Spring Game. All the coaches parked back there and we saw Alfredo pulling out and waved him over. He actually got out, held up all the coaches behind him and basically chugged a beer with us as D'onofrio kept blowing his horn. We were sold.

Now we know to not sell even temporary allegiance just because someone takes a free beer and to definitely know that someone that blows a horn like a ***** at the consumption of said free beer is a complete waste of life.

Depends on how good a year Notre Dame's defense has. I could see Tomlin taking the USC job next year too after the NCAA gives USC and Miami the death penalty and Riley bolts. Tomlin has been pretty open about a desire to coach in college.
Open? It’s the opposite. He’s not taking a college job. If the Steelers are dumb enough to fire him, he’ll have another NFL gig before he gets out of the parking lot of the Steelers’ business office.

I dunno. He was rumored about the USC opening this year and didn't exactly shoot down that speculation. He's basically been on the record about how his demeanor is more suited for college kids and recruiting too.

No losing seasons in 15 years you can say whatever you want about burgers

From what I heard him say on interviews, he totally shot it down. Now that could just what he told the media, cause you know coaches are so forthcoming with information to those guys 🙄. But he was really annoyed by the question in one of his last interviews of the season. So I don’t believe he’s interested in any college job. Besides, He’s done enough winning at the NFL level that he shouldn’t even have to answer those questions. If he were to be fired, he’d probably have his pick of NFL jobs.

Fun Fact: Tomlin’s one SB was the one season he chose Wendy’s over McDonald’s.

Coincidence? You decide…..

Yeah. He told them ny99as, “Go ask Sean (Payton) about getting a college job. Why y’all come at me every time wit this nonsense! I am not interested in ANY college job”.

It's a simple analogy, I never understood why our dumbass fans jumped on this so much. Consistency is important in sports as in any well managed organization. No matter where you go on planet Earth, a #1 at McDonalds will be the same thing(Outside of probably India, where Hindus view the cow as sacred). It's also a reference that everyone can grasp because **** NEAR EVERYONE HAS BEEN TO A MCDONALDS IN THEIR LIFE.

Tomlin is an outstanding coach, there's a reason why he's well respected in the industry. The Steelers franchise is built on consistency and staying the course and like a McDonald's cheeseburger, it doesn't change. They know what they are, and don't try to be anything other than that. They have a firm franchise identity and they work from there.

The analogy makes perfect sense, can't agree with anyone attacking the statement....But, the thread is just relating his quote to Al Golden's failed cheeseburger quote.

The problem is that Al Golden's message wasn't wrong, it was the same **** message as Tomlin. The problem was that Golden wasn't consistent, he didn't hold his staff to the same standard he tried to hold the players to and the players saw right through that. That's what ultimately got him fired. How can you lecture a player about doing his job, when it's obvious your defensive coordinator is an incompetent idiot? If Golden would have fired D'Onofrio and hired someone worth a ****, odds are dude would have probably been okay(Not elite, but solid). He was ahead of the curve on a lot of stuff, the problem was that he just was far too loyal to trash. Then again, had he been able to hold onto Fisch, he probably would have been able to skate by on that dude's skills. To be a quality program director, you have to be ruthless at times, Golden lacked that. When the messaging doesn't match action, you get apathy and that's exactly what Golden didn't understand.

Mario on the other hand, the messaging(so far) matches what he does.

Hey, your taking the first step of recovery by admission of buying the shirt.

Now if that shirt is worn out because you were wearing it all the time back then....All bets are off!

J/k

Holy **** I’m sick. This is pure mediocrity. Boooooo Mike Tomlin. As a life long Steeler fan and big fan of Tomlin and his giant balls this is very disappointing…bummer

Go Canes!

The messages themselves are fine. "Be a cheeseburger" "Trust your training" are given across multiple industries and disciplines. We just have bad associations with them because Golden is a loser and always has been a loser and always will be a loser. No coach in history has ever coached more afraid, and we've even had Larry "nuts disappeared into his abdomen" Coker. If science ever wants to perfect water-tight technology, just let Al Golden run a defense and observe his b-hole
