BCS vs CFP 11/12/19

I listened to someone this morning on ESPN defending Alabama, saying they should not be punished because a few players made mistakes. I guess a guy missed a TD pass. Couldn’t help but think with that logic we should be in the Top 4. It’s an embarrassment to rational thinking

Let’s do it! F it! Why should we be punished b/c JT4 muffed a punt, or our kickers keep missing fgs??! I’m for it! Miami is truly the only team deserving to be CFP certified b/c of a couple of players

So season rankings should be based on more than the football season? We gotta incorporate recruiting rankings, hype, and media attention?

I'd rather do the crazy thing and let the results on the football field do the talking.
Have you watched both teams? Do you think Minnesota is better than Alabama..unless u just hating on Bama nobody outside of the state of Minnesota believes the golphers have looked better than Bama ..nobody said anything about recruiting rankings..only 4 teams get in. Therefore make it the best 4..if bamas only blemish is LSU, Who is the number 1 ranked team, losing by 5, then yes I’d put them in before a 1 loss Minnesota. Unless Minnesota runs the table and beats OSU..if both teams presumably have 1 loss, Bama should be in..no chance for Utah..

If you want the four most talented teams, play the playoff games in September, because we knew who was "most talented" back then. The playoffs should be about what you've done on the field.
Thats why I said if their resume isn’t worthy. A 1loss SEC team as talented as Bama with that loss coming in a 5 point game to the number 1 ranked team isn’t unworthy..for instance if Miami or Vatech we’re ranked 1(Mia) and 2(tech) and we loss a 5 point game and missed the ACC championship game, would you with a straight face say that we shouldn’t be in because of that? Answer is **** no..you pick the 4 best to avoid a year 2000 scenario where a FSU team gets a shot over a more deserving Miami team..in the playoffs case you put the best 4 teams worthy in..a two loss team should never get in..some conference champs are and should be worth more then others. Who you play, how you play should always be a factor..not just wins and losses

And both are still better than anyone Bama has beaten
I’d say a 5 point loss to LSU makes up for that..non conference schedules are made years in advance...i could see if Bama was squeaking by, then got dominated vs LSU. Then I’d say yeah Bama is getting hyped for no reason. But they’ve handled, blown out everything in front of them..Utah has a loss..Minnesota has a 7 point win vs South Dakota state, 7 point win vs Purdue. 3 pt OT win vs Fresno. 3 pt win vs Georgia southern. 5 point win vs penn state off penn state when state had the ball in territory for the win but the QB threw it away...minn and Utah are the teams in the debate..Utah loss to USC..nothing on either resume is equal to a 5 point loss to the now ranked number 1 team..I left UGA out because they have a clear path to get in if the win the SEC

For the people lobbying for Bama..wtf have they done to deserve a top 4 spot? Their best claim on their resume is a LOSS to the #1 team. They have 1 win against a team over .500. Take away their history and tell me why they should be in.

So a good loss makes up for a mediocre win? Huh???

Wait..what? How you get that from what I read??..but I’ll bite, yes if team A wins vs Famu by 3...but team B loses to the number 1 ranked team by 5..then yes the loss is better when team A and B have the same number of losses

And what does Minnesota or Utah have on their resume to deserve a spot up to now? Do you actually know the scores of Minnesota’s schedule or you just hating on Bama a bit..are you just tired of seeing Bama?

Okla lost to Kansas st Baylor beat the **** out of Kansas st but yet Okla ranked higher than Baylor. It's all rigged anyway

This stuff will sort itself out. Those two you named play each other this week. UGA has to win out including wins against Auburn and LSU to get in. Same for Minnesota. They will have to beat Taint to get in. Bama is the only special case because they will smack the **** out of Auburn and all of sudden it won't matter that they didn't win their division. The committee has already proven they will put 1 loss Bama in without winning their division.

So you’d keep Bama out because they loss to LSU?..if LSU has loss would u keep them out too? Who on Utah’s or Minnesota’s schedule are even close to a LSU?..if Alabama beats AU what win on Utah or Minnesota schedule beats that?..if Bama runs the table the rest of their games they’re in..unless Minnesota dominates the rest of their games

You're stuck on who you think is best without relying on results. Alabama doesn't have an impressive win on their schedule. And, no, Alabama is not a lock to be in if they win out. Oregon, Oklahoma, and possibly Minnesota could all have stronger cases.

Again, if you want the four most talented teams, just start the season with a four team playoff. Going with your logic, Alabama was a lock for the playoffs on August 1st.

There is no such thing as "quality losses". We can compare wins against wins, but don't compare one team's win to another team's loss.

And how did you get fixated on Utah when Oregon is ranked higher and will be the favorite to win the Pac 12?

So bad. The rankings SHOULD be based on who has done what THIS YEAR. So what if a Minnesotan loses and the rankings change? They’re doing their best to predict the ending before getting there. No harm in punishing Georgia for losing to a sub 500 team at home other than a slap on the wrist from SEC fanboys

Don't let facts get in the way of a beauty contest.
The 'experts' on the committee get to ignore records and focus on weighing the 'intangibles'.

I agree it's all rigged and pure horse *****.

I’m against Undefeated > 1 loss team as a blank statement, but I do think this year is fair to have the discussion. I think the most talented team vs the team that has a better record argument is a lot like the MOST valuable player vs the best player discussion.

Bama is more talented than Minn, Baylor and Utah, but I don’t think they are having a better football season, Bama is killing teams they should kill and lost to the team that was their match AT HOME by 12 points (DB letting the WR get behind him was lunacy). I don’t think we can say Bama is what it was 4 years ago, UGA was beating the life out them 2 years ago, Clemson dominated them last year and now they lost soundly to LSU, Obviously they’re a top 5 team in terms of quality, but they're not performing at the level we assume they should. UGA being top 4 is pathetic, they are a worse version of Alabama, they will get boatraced by LSU on the SECCG.

I think the PAC-12 champion, Utah or Oregon, should be in this year, unless the champion has 2 losses, there’s really no argument for leaving them out again. If Baylor wins the B12 they would have a claim to make too, the problem honestly is OU, they’re a looking fraudulent af this year, they got outscored BY 20 in the 4Q against ISU team AT HOME.
