I won't touch on any one candidate in this post but I think you have to remember what Miami is trying to do with the program. According to multiple reports the school is going to invest more into the program and build up that infrastructure. I think you have to assume this means both physical infrastructure and personnel infrastructure. If Miami is attempting to rebuild its athletic program then it should hire someone that has experience doing exactly that. So which candidates have experience going in and building an athletic program and who are we considering?

This. A lot of people will focus solely on who an AD hires and fires, and while that is certainly an important (and by far the most "visible") aspect of the job, there's way more to it. Does our AD have a long term vision for Miami athletics that includes facilities, stadium contracts, fundraising - not BJ faux-raising but actual fundraising, NIL deals, outreach, resource allocation, etc across all sports? If we are in fact getting an influx of big money soon, we need an AD that knows how to spend it correctly, and more importantly, make it self-sustaining.

When you say vision... The next AD could be an improvement if they actually read the contracts apparently

Is this post about New Mexico?

It isn't about any one candidate. Look if you want to build a restaurant then you hire a firm that specializes in that. If you want to build a distribution center then you hire a firm that specializes in that. The hire should have experience addressing the need. I'd say that if the hire doesn't have that experience then we are not serious about addressing the current need.

As far as "physical infrastructure"- what do we really need? New locker rooms? An upgraded Trainer's Table? Those aren't yuge projects. Otherwise we kinda maxed out landspace with an IPF that couldn't even be a full 100 yds and we got new dorms.

This is a really thoughtful post. I think we need to look at the candidates we hear about though with this perspective.

The only one is Jurich that I’m aware of and apparently that’s not in the cards. He built up facilities, re-built football and re-built basketball at Louisville.

I just wish there was some positive news to be reported. All this waiting and wondering.....But, no news is good news. I do think that Manny is for sure gone, otherwise they would have already come out and say that he is staying, no matter who the AD is. Mario is obviously choice #1, the silence about an extension from Oregon is deafening. Lane thinks he may have a shot as well and there is still no word on an extension for him in Oxford either. SO no news, IS absolutely good news, but it would be nice for an announcement to be made.

Tom Jurich has a better track record of success than every other candidate that has been mentioned.....Combined.

Moreover, Tom Jurich has been known to be extremely creative and innovative in the way he's structured coaching contracts in an effort to protect the University's interests. Given the current state of escalating coaching salaries, having an AD with the experience level of Tom Jurich becomes more and more critical to the success of building the athletic department.

Nunez was at LSU for 14 years and WAS involved in infrastructure and facilities upgrades that totaled over $400 million. Not the AD .. but did have project responsibility and was involved.

Someone that has vision on how we compete with other institutions. The A.D. will need the chops to sell the the need to donors and coordinate a multi year rebuild. It just isn't about building a new locker room, it's about the experience we offer players and how do we get ahead of schools and not stay behind them.

Dan. *******. RADAKOVICH.
One can dream, right? I mean, plucking Radakovich from CU would be as big a power move as we could make as a university, Riley to USC-esque. Would be a huge **** you to the ACC establishment and would make a statement for sure.

I am hoping all the misdirection and misinformation leads us to a pleasant surprise. Unfortunately we have all been down this road before and it never leads us to the result we hope for / expect.
