Baseball Recruiting

His stats don’t look impressive. And I’m a Columbus guy.
Yea im trying to understand commitments like this and max alvarez out of columbus as well. Kid batted like .128 and just committed to Duke. Its like you’re trying to tell me in all of dade/broward theres no kids with better stats, skill and size to take over these two? Not saying they can’t develop into top kids but why take commitments so early with below average samples?

We would have to dig a bit deeper to see the ties. Someone I talk to daily said maybe one of his parents work at the school so it doesn’t cost them a scholarship, but I then counter and replied, but he takes a valuable roster spot away since there’s only 34 spots now. I’m a bit confused truly

Also we lost a big battle two days ago when
2026 RHP Wes Peterson committed to Duke on Sunday over Miami and a few others. He was one of my top targets for us

To me, there's a silver lining. Win and show a renewed commitment to baseball w the coaching staff, and we'll get kids like this.

The portal game is unsustainable, e.g. see FSU football in 2024.

Miami ranked #10 in 2026 recruiting rankings according to Baseball America.

We have a pretty solid recruiting class. Although we have missed on a few guys that I have threads about

Miami needs to do a much better job of recruiting Central Florida, needs to put together a class that is strong through the draft process, and needs to do a better job of developing talent.

None of our recent draft pick hitters that played college ball for us have developed well outside of del Castillo. Most of the rest are the same old story lots of pop poor bat to ball skills. My bet is Cuvet shows well but time will tell.

On the pitching side what Alejandro Rosario has done since leaving is an incredible indictment on our pitching development. His signing bonus suffered greatly because of the ineptitude there. One year in the league and a guy we turned into a 5th rounder is a consensus top 100 prospect arm with stats to match.

Draft is shorter and continues to change. I think we get all but 2-3. If JD’s buddies want to do everything they can to help him succeed get 2-3 college baseball game changer NIL’s and try to get the whole class

My brother we all know they need to hit Central Florida hard. But how can you hit it hard when you have Florida, FSU offering better deals than you.. if you want to go further, LSU, Texas all can offer more scholarship money to instate kids than we can.

Now everyone will say how does Wake do it, how does Duke do it? How do they do it, it’s called having a coach who has been there for 30 years.

The staff actually does a better job in recruiting and convincing family’s to take out loans than I expected. We haven’t won in ages, we looked horrible last year, and they still have really solid 2025 and 2026 classes.

I think a lot of NIL is being prepared for the 2026 class for guys like Rookie Shepard and Gio Rojas

Pollard has been at Duke for 13 years. Walter has been at Wake for 15 years. Do you get anything right?

We actually had a coach who had been here for 30 years and wasn’t exactly lighting it up. Miami response? Back to back promotions of his assistants 😂

This is the type of kid that ends up at Wake/Duke/UVA and does very very well. They recruit this league hard. These kids tend to come from money too. Malvern Prep is about 45K all in per year. (Minus scholarships). Typically hard working kids with very little drama. This kid is going to blow up this summer with a showing like this.

This high school has an analytics team and its not just seeing exit velo/arm velo. They track heat zones, Z-Swing, etc. I mean its really pretty amazing for a high school...and they use AWRE.

As the Junior National Showcase has wrapped up on Wednesday. I want to highlight a few players I know our staff will be calling on August 1st. It will be interesting to see where they all end up and if we can land them all. If we do land them all.... Wow
