Barry Jackson -update on the UM/Diaz situation later today.

Donna was super visible....never missed a game, went to the Hurricane Club events before the games, always shaking hands & meeting everyone. The students also loved her. I'll never forget her being at the Penn State game (last time we played up there; WE WON!) coming into the stands greeting everyone. She was really a people person and never stopped promoting the U. I've never laid eyes on Frenk at any event whatsoever or a game. He is indeed invisible to all.

If Frenk died and it wasn’t in the news no one would realize it

We left after they got the go ahead TD after Borregalis hit the FG to put us within 7. I saw the ending of that story before
No we didn't, we were still in the **** game at that point. GTFOH! Now, they may have given up after the next TD, but just sayin.

I highlighted last season that Zion was not great. He didn’t even start the first 3 games of the season, and while he played well in spots, he wasn’t some LT reincarnate. I’m wondering where his PFF grades are to begin the season thus far.
Same place our team is, Rellyrell. In the *******.

60-70 million ? Nah. Manny will be 3.2 to 4 Million.

Mario likely gets 6.5-8.0 . His buyout goes down in January , so not 10 million. Not sure the other buyout you’re talking about.
They're getting it from this.

It quotes a Barry Jackson interview with an unnamed UM trustee, who says..

"If UM offered (Cristobal) $7 million annually to try to entice him to leave Oregon in a five-year deal, that's $35 million," Jackson said. "It also would cost $9 million to buy out Cristobal's contract before January of 2022, or $6.5 million afterward. That and buying out the final two years and $8 million of Diaz’s contract in December would cost more than $50 million."

Whoever said this is adding up all the buyouts and the TOTAL of a hypothetical Mario contract. Since.. ya know.. contracts are paid in full up front. Smh..

#1, Mario will negotiate a new contract before the seasons end, especially if they are possibly headed to the CFP's. #2, it will cost UM at least 50M over 5 years in commitment to make Mario happen. Watch and see boy's, if it happens. These deals nowadays, for a top HC, are crazy.

The only things Frenk did for UM Football:

Nod when Golden was fired

Tell everyone to 'eat ****' when pundits in the national media called for the ACC to overturn the game and give the win to Duke (the KOR game).

“In the aftermath of the controversy related to the officiating of the game against Duke, I wish to express my disappointment with statements that question the legitimacy of our victory. Let me be clear: Both teams fought hard and at the highest levels of competition, and in the end the University of Miami won. “The University of Miami family stands proudly behind these young men and celebrates the hard-earned win.”
Nod when Richt was hired. 'Football isnt what we do, it's who we are' (or something to that effect).
Now he can retire to a cushy positon at the Medical School.

I said this to you in a message, but it is actually incredible that they need to replace the president, AD, and head football coach (and basketball coach if being honest), simultaneously. I have no idea how that even happens in a logical manner. Ideally you would want to go president, then AD, then coaches, but they do not have the luxury of logic because of their being reactive instead of proactive.

I was not a fan of Shalala, but can respect what she did. This guy is an unmitigated disaster. There is not a single facet of the school excelling... undergrad, med, law, business, athletics. Every single one of them are down, and yet, Frenk is still there and no one knows if they are interviewing others. It is incredible.

Why do people keep calling the salary an investment? UM already pays Manny ~$4M a year, they were just paying Richt ~$5M, so should already have that in their budget. It’s just the buyouts, which look like $10-13M. That shouldn’t be an insurmountable amount to come up with for donors/trustees.

And if UM really can’t stretch that salary up to $7M per year, maybe Blake James can finally live up to his reputation and fundraise an extra $2M a year.

Let me ask u,TOC:

As an alum, what is ur feel towards the overall school from an academic & athletic standpoint w/ the combination of Frenk &

Who cares. Miami raised money to build a freaking IPF in no time. They can raise Manny's buyout, Mario's buyout, and Mario's [plus staff's] contracts by Thanksgiving.
They are raising money now for locker room renovation and some other stuff.

She was. And she taught. My daughter took her healthcare seminar as a senior. She was an engaging lecturer - the class was around 300 students, one of the largest on campus

If they are are going to wait a month for the buyout to go down to hire Mario then they aren’t serious about hiring him. Mario would probably come for 5.5 million in year 1 with a small increase over a 5 year period. I don’t have a doubt that they could pull the money together it’s that what if Mario takes Oregon to CFP are they still waiting for him?

If Oregon goes to the playoff it’ll make things more difficult for UM.

Cribby, appreciate the info you bring to us.

For all the posters referencing numbers, to bring relativity to the topic, let’s talk in either upfront or annual numbers.

Any coach that we hire is likely going to get a 5yr deal in the $5mm to $7mm PER YEAR range. We’ve got to stop combining the cumulative figure of the contract like Miami has to write a check for the 5yr contract, and create artificial sticker shock.

The buyout figures on either end (Manny and incoming coach) can get amortized over multiple years to lessen the hit. Plus Manny will likely get some percentage of the remaining two year aggregate, 50% to 65%.

Manny getting $4mm a year is absolutely criminal compared to what the likes of legit coaches get paid like Lane Kiffin, Cristobal and Fickell

Where‘d you see that?

He only has a tad over 8 left on his deal. Six is a smidge high number. That doesn’t add up on the percentage he receives on a buyout. By my math five would be pushing it.

Btw If you‘re talking the BJ article i‘d take that with a grain of salt. I don’t even pay that any mind.
