You make a great point.

****, just google "Julio Frenk Miami accomplishments", and you will be stunned on how few articles have been written in the past six years. Many of the search results are articles that tell you about Frenk WHEN HE WAS HIRED, but there is a shocking lack of documentation of any significant accomplishments over the past six years.

VERY different from what you had under Foote or Shalala. People can criticize those two, but they were incredibly active in their first five years as UM Presidents.

I’m sure some of these dudes on here have amassed fortunes of varying degree but how much and willingness to spend it on this - who knows. NYSOM and Kenneth bankrolling athletics would be a wild ride.

I got spoiled 20+ years ago and watching us wretch out since has forced me to learn more about the actual game of FB than I ever cared to - to try and understand WHY we decline.

I can't say I am rooting against my canes, but I am back in the Golden/Richt mode of being okay with the inevitable meltdown to foment the neded change...but this news only saddens me, in that the next set of circumstances don't set up well either.

Well said, @harphong! The Canes are like cocaine, when the buzz is good, it is so good. When you come down, it's the worst. Haven't done it for over 30 years, but I remember what it was like. I will continue to watch all games in hopes of a turnaround (we are not far off). I will take my lumps, all the **** from my buddies and see how history plays itself out. I am also, right now, in the boat that, if he dies he dies, with Diaz. He better pull a miracle out of his *** the rest of the season if he wants me to climb the fence, back to the other side and I mean run the table or at least win the Coastal. That would be great at this point in the season.

Didn't those guys start a hedge fund that focuses on LGBTQ-friendly investments?

And after reading all of those "Investing" posts on the Off-Topic board, I am convinced that we have a few hundred multi-billionaire money managers on CIS, guys who went to much better schools than UM and work on Wall Street and have regular meetings with the world's richest people and are entrusted to invest trillions of dollars...

Cribby, we are talking probably $3M to buyout Manny, $10M to buy out other coach, @ $8-10M a year for 5, $40-50M and then probably a $10M buyout on new coach contract. That is approx. a $60-70M investment. They ready to commit to that? Look at Richt, we invested probably about $20M and less than that for Manny. That is a big jump in $ and that is not including assistances. That would probably add another couple million. Seems like going from the outhouse to the penthouse. Appreciate you, brother!
 
Diaz and staff are good as gone. There is no way Miami is beating UNC, UVA, and VT. Automatic losses even with King. At Pitt is looking like a loss as well. FSU and CCS that we play this Saturday are lock wins. But at Duke and home for NC State are not locks but Miami SHOULD win.

Manny will go 6-6 or 7-5 with a team that has a 6th year senior, returning starters all over the place, “2nd year in an offensive scheme”, “the great Manny Diaz” as DC, and playing in a WEAK *** conference. Clemson isn’t a top 5-8 team this year. Certainly not CFP.

Add all of that to being the worst fundamental team in the nation (tackling and penalties), bad player development (****, all of our players have taken a step back), a growing hatred by the minute fan base for Manny….

All that equals FIRED. We have seen this every year in college football. What I just listed above is the RECIPE for getting a HC and his staff fired. In any sport. Regardless of the era. It’s over for Diaz.

Agreed. Don't see how the other coaches have $10M in buyouts, given how we pay generally. The $8-10 a year for 5 years is also misleading given we would need to pay $4-5M already so the incremental is maybe $2.5-3M per year or $15M. Mario's contract for instance is supposed to be a $9M buyout until January then its $6M. So not sure why we assume $10M for that. Its definitely a commitment but not $60-70M. We should do what the revenue would look like if we actually filled the stadium by having some sort of competent product.

Who cares. Miami raised money to build a freaking IPF in no time. They can raise Manny's buyout, Mario's buyout, and Mario's [plus staff's] contracts by Thanksgiving.

Remember when he was hired to raise our profile through Latin America and fundraise massive amounts there. Still waiting to hear about the start of that campaign. Good times.

Oh i totally agree....i mean this was what all of us that were screaming when this hire occurred expected would be the outcome. Its a waste of several years when the money was there to make the right hire. But we haven't been able to get out of our own way or we haven't had the desire and will to be a good football team again. I don't think its ever coming back cause no one but this and other boards give a ****.

Donna was super visible....never missed a game, went to the Hurricane Club events before the games, always shaking hands & meeting everyone. The students also loved her. I'll never forget her being at the Penn State game (last time we played up there; WE WON!) coming into the stands greeting everyone. She was really a people person and never stopped promoting the U. I've never laid eyes on Frenk at any event whatsoever or a game. He is indeed invisible to all.
