I find it hilarious how everyone has been ten miles up Diaz' *** and when former players say the same thing y'all eat it up. Diaz talked about the culture problem when he was named HC. He's also, repeatedly, emphasized "getting players that WANT to be Miami Hurricanes," and talked consistently about what that looks like.

This class has a little look of what we need: mostly long-time commits who are all early enrollees.

It works if the staff can identify the right character in players and Reed can help implement the mentality.

it’s the 10% 80% 10% rule. Forget about the bottom 10, the top 10 are your leaders. But the middle 80 can be brought up or taken down, bringing up the middle 80 is what wins.

This is what people who use “culture” as an excuse for the poor performance Diaz and previous coaches don’t get.

You’re not as good as your best players or as bad as your worst. It’s the ones in the middle that go with the flow of where they are lead that show whether you have a leader that has what it takes to control a team.

Yes, but Diaz takes heat because he is in charge of cultivating the culture. Did anyone get suspended for missing practice? Was there accountability from the coaches? Sure, in an ideal world the team polices itself, but when the coaches won't even do anything, they are part of the culture problem--so they don't get to complain about it.

Just my two cents.

Diaz became a prisoner of the moment. We were close to winning all of those lost games in the regular season. I think that led him to let things slide, assuming that if we lost key contributors, we'd lose games. Understandable thoughts when you believe the team is right there, about to have a great season. The problem with that is you enable bad culture. Now he's a step behind trying to turn it around this year, although I do think he's learned his lesson

I find it baffling that people like you still don’t get it. Manny is the chief hypocrite by employing coaches who are not competent at doing their jobs and not holding them accountable, especially on defense. He can wax nostalgic and talk savage but players see what he’s doing, and if he’s not living up to the standard then no one else will either. Thank goodness for Ed, maybe he’ll help Manny to be more honest with himself and hold his friends accountable. #fireBlakeBaker

Yes because this has any place in this thread  And anyways if those 3 losers are truly the 3 options we are doomed LOL .

Hey goofy, it does have a place in this thread, read the article. Those are the 3 coaches Ed brings up as great leaders of men.

That line is the worst of all time line from coaches making excuses of why more talented guys go to better programs with better recruiters. Yea that's why the Hurricanes football program sucked because we were so good at recruiting we got players who didn't want to be Hurricanes to come here.

Seriously though "getting players that WANT to be ________ _________" is the worst line ever.

triggered.

Excellent take.

This is where his inexperience can do him in. He didn’t appreciate the true difference between his responsibilities as coordinator and those as head coach.

He thought he could use fun and excitement to get proper behavior out of his team. Many modern day parents make that mistake. He was all carrot and no stick.

Just look at Dabo. He has made playing football at Clemson fun. Make no mistake, though. He will roast your *** if you get out of line. Remember when the punter tried to be a hero and ran instead of kicking? You never see Diaz like that.

You have to have balance between the player’s coach and authoritarian role. Diaz has to show he has teeth. Being too buddy buddy with the guys has done in many coaches who could have otherwise been successful.

Yes there were players suspended. The problem is they need their asses whooped, and the coaches cant do it.
