TNM fan: “I dont want Ed Reed as COS because he has never coached a player like Ed Reed.” We just want coaches who live vicariously through players they coached before. Alphas are made, not replicated. We need a good HC, OC, and DC the rest is up to the players to have the desire to be great.
Nothing to do w the person holding the position, it’s the position itself.

COS is a “advisor to manny Diaz”, which means all he can do is make suggestions. Manny can choose to ignore his COS and every word he says.

Those who don’t think this move will help aren’t suspicious of Ed Reed, they’re suspicious of Manny Diaz.

big difference.

Yes, but Diaz takes heat because he is in charge of cultivating the culture. Did anyone get suspended for missing practice? Was there accountability from the coaches? Sure, in an ideal world the team polices itself, but when the coaches won't even do anything, they are part of the culture problem--so they don't get to complain about it.

Just my two cents.

Exactly. Did he give Enos the stare down, an *** chewing one time??? No... Did he get on Baker, Banda, Patke **** any of the coaches *** after 4th and 17?? No
You create that culture by holding every single person accountable.

Everybody wanna be the boss until they're the boss.

hmmmm maybe bc Diaz is the Head Coach and has been here for years, u think Reed is going to say something about how incompetent of a coach he is 🤔

Diaz has spent his entire UM career being buddy with his players, making jewelry and teaching dance classes he’s the culture issue.

Man it's crazy how people over look things when they dont like a person. You say this, but name a player that was problem child on defense when manny was the DC?

Most of the immaturity came from the offensive side ball. Maybe Diaz thought he could bring that same approach to entire team. Obviously, he was wrong. Now he employ a different strategy.

Even if someone thinks a coach is past his prime, or not right for the current job, how does anyone call any of those 3 guys “losers”???

They all had very successful careers and made **** good money.
Curtis Johnson is why we had inroads in Louisiana...and the main reason Reed and Wayne commited to UM....Unbelievable WR Coach....

I want to see one real alpha start a fight on the field in spring and after beating the beta party boy down stand there and ask, "Are you next mf'r?" When we had Liberty City and Muck boys that was the norm. Now we have south beach betas.

True story, back in the day at Glades Central and Pahokee, the first day of practice was "tryout day." One hundred guy's showed up and played full contact games with no pads or helmets. If you balled you could come back the next day. If you got hurt, see you next year. Now, HS guys have Twitter handles by 8th grade, fan pages and the like. They get free gear, free food, free travel, and free women. They no longer have a life or death fight to get out...........that was our advantage and it is gone.

nah Miami never lost to FIU until Diaz brought his sorry *** to Miami. We would’ve had a 9 win season under Randy Shannon, Al Golden, or Mark Richt last year.
All those guys had terrible losses and all you armchair ADs wanted each and everyone fired now you want to pretend that we now suck because we lost to FIU??? Like if getting our *** handed to us and shut out by virginia in the orange bowl was not sucking.

Right, but Randy got fired after that.

I find it hilarious how everyone has been ten miles up Diaz' *** and when former players say the same thing y'all eat it up. Diaz talked about the culture problem when he was named HC. He's also, repeatedly, emphasized "getting players that WANT to be Miami Hurricanes," and talked consistently about what that looks like.

This class has a little look of what we need: mostly long-time commits who are all early enrollees.

It works if the staff can identify the right character in players and Reed can help implement the mentality.

That's because Manny is saying it - former star players lived it.

When we got a green replacements and a new Second Lieutenant - who started telling us "book" things to do - those replacements listened to those of us who'd actually taken lots of scalps - and did like us - those things that worked.

Manny hasn't shown anybody - anything yet. That New Miami he was touting - at the end of the season - sucked taint.

He starts showing some great seasons - then he starts to build up some credibility.

Until then, I really don't want to hear anymore of his BS - but I'm most interested in what Ed Reed will be saying. So will the players.

You see - Ed actually played football. Ed actually won a National Championship. He was all through the rebuild Butch had to do. Then he played football in the Big Show.

And a Hall of Famer.

Rather listen to Ed to actually KNOW what's necessary for these players to excel.

A comes before B & C. Gotta coach better.

So turning around an ATROCIOUS defense and posting top-10 defenses multiple years straight isn't showing anyone anything yet?

OK..... you must be one of the ones who totally ignored everything Manny was saying all year and now are talking about how we have a culture problem.

You don't need to coach better to find guys of the right character. Schnellenberger was able to do it when we were losing. So was Butch. It's how you turn around a program.

Agreed... But... Evaluations aren’t separate from coaching. Thats a part of the JD.

My point? We weren’t infected with some incurable bad character 🧬 that happens to cycle through championship programs every few decades. We simply have the bad coaching flu. Just like USC had before Pete. OSU before Tressel. UF before *** & then again before Mullen. Ect. Once a better coach was hired all of that drama went out of the window.

Mullen brought some good ole fashioned Tussin’ with him and wiped that bad culture boogeyman right out of his locker room - IN HIS FIRST OFFSEASON. Coaching.

Last checked - a Coordinator is not a Head Coach.

A Chocolate Brownie and a **** may both be brown - and even extra chunky - but they're not the same.

Really good coordinators - fell flat on their asses at Head Coach. It's a different job.
