Barry J. article discussing the internal power struggle

If Highsmith would consider a traditional “chief of staff” role at UM with no authority or no ability to fundamentally change how UM runs its football program, then maybe he would get the job. Or maybe Diaz will come around on giving him more power than a traditional chief of staff.

Incredibly insulting.

BJ is adding gas to the manny-flake bonfire and I love it.

I wonder how other coaches will use this confusion to their advantage in the February signing day? Other coaching staffs around the US must be wondering what the heck.

I'm not sure I'm sold on this Highsmith-as-Manny's-boss arrangement, tbh. Although it definitely could help in the short term, it sets a weird precedent where instead of firing a coach we know to be incompetent, we change the whole leadership structure of the football program. Why can't we just get a fckin competent head coach like plenty of other schools have????

How many NFL teams have a GM with the power to oversee the team incl hiring and firing the HC?

I couldn't care less if no cfb program does it. Up until recently how many programs had a support staff like the one nick saban assembled?

So out of the 3 of them (Zo, Blake, and manny), the only one with the experience to justify their position has to answer to the 2 morons clearly in over their heads???

UM has to be one of the worst run universities in America. Zo should just walk away. He has no business begging UM. It should be the over way around. All this nonsense to keep an unqualified AD and HC in their current positions... smh

Oh, btw, Cristobal just won the rose bowl. On top of signing the #1 recruit in the nation in back to back years. He be a moron to even think about flirting with UM for anything more than a pay raise

Just to recap so we can fully appreciate this:

• A guy who's been a high-level NFL executive for 8 seasons verbally agreed to take a position at UM that would give him power, helping to hopefully fix our program.

• Our tiny, lisping moron of a head coach, with his 6-7 record and 3 straight losses to FIU, Duke, and LaTech, told his boss "no."

• Cuck James allowed his tiny, lisping moron head coach with no success, respect, or clout to dictate to him who he can hire. He allowed an employee to tell him who he could hire.

• So not only is Manure ruining the program on the field, he's now also overpowering his spineless boss on a hire that could lay the foundation for us to build a strong program in the future and stop running our team like it's amateur hour.

This entire program should be shut down and at this point if you don't despise Manny you're either part of his bloodline of mentally handicapped.
Bingo.

He lost me and every other person in the know. His only chance now is to come crawling back with his tail between his legs asking for forgiveness and ensuring Highsmith is hired.

I disagree. Alonzo could come in and actually deflect some of the blame off Diaz for any poor performance when looking at things negatively. On the other hand, the best CEOs bring in people smarter than them and let them do their job. Manny could spend so much more time on his defense which is actually pretty good. I could go on and on.

Why is it that fans like you and I can see this so clearly but the guy in charge making millions of dollars is so blind? Sports is a crazy business.

The pressure to lure Mario now before he signs a big extension with Oregon will be immense over the next few days.

🍿
Our admin is far too dumb and incompetent to think about doing something like this. James and Diaz think everything is just fine.

Which of course will never happen.

This confirms that Manny just wants a glorified secretary for this new administrator position without any real authority,

Another TNM/Turnover Chain gimmick.

And of course Flake James will likely continue to appease his loser HC hires and not force them to make needed/uncomfortable decisions that are in the best interest of the program.
Agree to me Manny had his chance last year and he f up the enos hire and frankly keeping most of the defensive staff (which shows his conflict of interest).

There needs to be as independent person do a thorough evaluation of the program and have the power to override Manny.

How realistic is it for Manny to evaluate himself? These people get paid so much and are so incompetent.

So Manny is going to go to James and say after a review of the football program there are many issues starting with the head coach. There are several upgrades available I will be sending you.
