How will Barrow leaving impact recruiting? Anyone with some insight? Would love the feedback from Shaq's dad on this since it's his son's position coach.

TIA.

they've committed with 2 years left of high school ball. plenty of time to salvage things

I seriously doubt the impact will be felt but to a sever minimum. Since Barrow has been coach what marquee recruit has he landed the position? How well have our LB's developed under him? I hate to see him go but Hurlie has brought in more marquee recruits than Barrow, Scott has did his thing with the Tampa pipeline, Coley is Coley, but what can be said for Barrow?

Love barrow but the soft spot on this team has been linebacker development in my opinion. Not sure if that's attributable to him or not but sure we can benefit from a change.

I don't believe barrow was the problem there at all like coach macho said it was a lack of talent, mental errors, and complexity. (For our lbs and our defense)

Barrow is a big loss (he makes a great impact on recruits - ask Young & Owens & also really respected in dade) and great person. Wish him the best

Good recuiter, average coach, easily replaced. If he wasn't a Cane he probably wouldnt have made it through the last regime change. Good Luck to him, hope he goes somewhere where he can hone his skills and maybe come back one day. He was never in a good environment where he could learn to be a great coach.

I'm no insider, but I've always gotten the impression that he's been overrated as a recruiter. I can't remember a blue chip kid sayin barrow was the reason they committed to miami like they do with Coley, Carroll or Hurlie. Of course, they never mention a D coach so that could be the reason.

He is a great Cane and will always have my respect though.

This, he has a lot of ties with the comunity and all but i think he was a little over rated with his recruiting, lets not forget we have beard now on staff along with ice so those local tirs arent hurt at all, except champagnat

According to 247, Barrow was at least partially responsible for recruiting Chad Thomas, Joseph Yearby, Trevor Darling, Darrion Owens, Michael Smith, Demetrius Jackson, Chris Herndon, Juwon Young, Tyre Brady, Ryan Mayes, Terry McCray, and Trayone Gray. For 2015, he has his hand in with Claude George, Jamie Gordinier, and Charles Perry. As far as I can tell, he has been instrumental in recruiting and his loss will hurt. His coaching abilities have been average to be kind but the people acting like this is a small loss are fooling themselves.

Yea, he sucks

Barrow couldnt even get his own nephew Lane to consider us without mocking us

Did not mean to like this.

Barrow was a very solid recruiter.

Not only was Lane not his actual nephew, but he (Lane) is also a total piece of ****.

Barrow was a solid recruiter, but just like everyone, he had his shortcomings.

We can't fault him for that... we can only thank him for his years of hard work

Outliers are fun! He finished 46th in the ACC in 2010. 23rd in 2011. He wasn't top 50 in 2012 (out-recruited by Coach D I might add). 9th in 2013, 3rd in 2014 (your picture), and so far this year wasnt top 50 (6 other Miami coaches are). You can't single out a good year out of 7 years and say "look he's awesome he doesn't suck".

I like him as much as the next guy, but he's an overrated recruiter by most. Hes good, but very far from replaceable and even improvable. On top of that, he's **** near a terrible LB coach. Development at that spot over the last 7 years has been awful outside of McCarthy, Spence, and Perryman, and those guys could have been developed by a pet rock. I wish Barrow the best, but don't let loyalty and nepotism cloud the fact that it's going to be easy to improve on his work.

Mom's time was coming up, getting sicker & sicker. No one down here reAlly knows when one's time is close to expiration. With all his time balling in NFL, he just wants to give back today before there's nothing to give and no more time for Mom to receive the love.

Godspeed to him and prayers sent to his family for his ailing mother. You can't fault a guy for leaving to care for his sick mother.

Best wishes to Coach Borrow. Man is leaving to do a good deed, but some can only see a time to disrespect the man and his decision. His resignation will be used by rival schools, but our committed LB's (for 2016) are committed to the U, not necessarily Coach Borrow. None of us know 98% of the really good assistant coaches that will rise to be stars in their profession. Too many think "all" the good coaches come from SEC programs. Heck Auburn head coach came from HS, then he brought in his former QB to be OC without major college experience. Same for Clemson OC. So show some respect to Coach Borrow and the abilities of the new coaches!
