I heard a TV analyst refer to Miami as "the candy canes" way before the banner campaign started. Newsflash: We are already a laughing stock, and it wasn't the banners, it is and was Al Golden! Even he says "it starts with me". Along with "we'll get it corrected". When Al? When will it be corrected? smh

The end of a matter is better than the beginning, this too shall pass!!!! Golden will either be fired, stay, or leave on his own for another program. Next year will all be excited about the new coach, or complain yet about another **** year with Golden at the helm. The banner will not dictate the outcome, but it is a way for some fans to express their frustration with the current head coach.

UM admin and the BoT are embarrassing the program by their inaction on a move that EVERYONE IN THE **** WORLD could see needed to be made. They fostered this negative atmosphere with stupidity, cheapness, negligence and by sticking their middle fingers up to the life blood of the program (the fans). You would have to be all of deaf, dumb, blind and delusional to be surprised at the negative response the program is receiving right now. UM deserves every ounce of embarrassment and shame they have gotten and will receive. It's unfortunate that they have let it get to this, but what else can we expect from this small time, short-sighted , leaderless bucket-shop they call an "athletic department"
 
All the current vitriol was prophecied at the end of last season, by several posters here. The BOT chose this road then. We are marching inexorably toward the only logical conclusion:

Firing Day is 68 away.

The BOT is embarrassing to the program. Donna was embarrassing. Al record is embarrassing. The last dozen years are embarrassing to the program. The banners are merely a result and embarrass all the above. Last week the broadcasters tried to trash the banners, then the last 8 minutes of game brought out the real Al and the shut up. Long may they fly.

My sentiments exactly. I've never supported the banners (financially or otherwise) but as a fan who spends a fair amount of time on various Canes sites I can see that the fan base is super frustrated. I understand their pain.

I also think the banners could ultimately lead certain factions within the BoT to want to keep golden thru 2016 just to avoid being beaten in the arena of public opinion. (quite a bit of irony there).

OP claims to share dissatisfaction with AG, yet is unwilling to voice his opinion in any meaningful way. Well, some of us are not so weak-spirited.

If you ate a bad meal ONCE at a restaurant, would you not say something? Of course you would. You would expect some kind of satisfaction, an apology or a comp at the very least. If your mechanic gave you your car back with 3 flat tires, you'd ask for restitution or take him to small claims court. If a doctor screwed up and accidentally removed one of your kidneys on the operating table, you'd sue him into oblivion.


Yet OP thinks the fans should sit on their hands going on 12 years of garbage product. You can't explain that.




The banners will continue to fly. Feel free to fly your own banner voicing your opinion, if you have the sack for it.

And realisticly ask yourself who would come here to coach UM if UM fired Golden. Schools nowadays throw millions of $$$ to facilities to entice recruits to choose their school. A small private school like UM can not compete in those levels.
