Using the kid as good PR=classy, but mentioning Kelly=disgraceful, rude, immature. You can't have it like that. They are both one in the same just with different purposes.

a banner that supports jim kelly is good. a banner that supports carter hucks is good. a banner doing either of those while taking a stab at anyone is classless. if you're too obtuse to see why this kelly banner is a bad thing, then i don't know what to tell you.

The banner doesn't even "support" Carter. It uses his name as a cheerleader for good PR. There is no get well soon Carter, good luck Carter, etc. It's a banner flown for the sole purpose of making the school look better to those who are naive enough to not realize, "hey how does that support the kid?"
 
The people that still complain about the banner hurting recruiting, did any of you watch the FSU game the other night? Lots of Canes on that field but I'm sure it was the banner that drove them away. Oh wait....

i'm not referring to the one that flew today. we talked about getting one with "get well soon" or something like that and it petered out.

If you thought the banners were a good idea, whatever effect it has is being lost. If anything this will make the administration think that the banners represent a lunatic fringe that is a minority of the fanbase. Banners at every game including away games make a caricature out of the coach dissenters many of whom are actually reasonable.

As opposed to the one who uses a child's? I'm with problem on this one. Banner wasn't flown to support the kid, straight power move by those who are pro Golden and staff. A **** good one at that. Make the anti Golden guys look bad and promote a nice story. Either way there was an agenda.

Doesn't have to be from the university to be a PR move. We have a good segment of our fanbase that cares more about good PR for the team than winning games.
 
So actual fans wanting to support the program is to be looked down upon?

how does that tin foil hat feel today? this could just be some altruistic fan. i'm anti-golden and would've supported that. i also hate the kelly banner. you're being self-righteous about how someone didn't ask hucks about it (carter and the family happen to love it). did anyone ask jim kelly how he felt about having his name used, on the day that he's being celebrated no less, to take a cheap shot at someone?
