Banda-Patke co-dc, Simpson associate head coach

Had smith playing terrible..this ain’t PS4..he got all the other LBS balling but u point out one kid who’s playing a new spot to push a narrative 😂😂

He coaches one position -- striker (Finley and smith). He pushed his narrative by pointing out how one player was playing good so my point was that you could make the same argument the other way.

I don't hate it, as long as an OC is hired

Not holding my breath

This is about where I'm at with it. Good recruiters - and know the system. Hopefully with Simpson they can make the play calls equal to what we had with Manny. I think Simpson's role in this is under-appreciated. I wouldn't be surprised with the asst head coach title if he has the defensive play calling duties. That being said - it's a definitely a reach and if we don't use the open spot on an OC I would be very disappointed - which I am preparing for with alcohol.

He would need to terminate a coach to hire a new DC and OC. We also likely lose a few of our defensive coaches in the process. Richt made the safe hire for a man that doesn't want to get fired and does not want to fire his son. He now has the spot and money to hire a big-time coordinator.

He could've fired his kid and brought in a OC/QB coach. Then just straight up hired a straight up DC and have him interview the current staff. I like the idea of trying to remain in the game for guys like Bogle and TS. Having said that, the bolded shows that this is Richt's m.o., and that is a problem.

honestly, i think patke worries/bothers me more than banda.

Patke has been under Coach Diaz's tutelage since they were together at Mississippi State. Amazing that a freshman QB can start at Alabama & Clemson, but an 5 year understudy of coach Diaz can't be a legit Co-OC.

I like Rumph. His recruiting is meh, but he's a **** good coach.

For the life of me how does Patke become a co-DC as a 2nd year coach? How?

And at least Rumph has landed players as a recruiter. Who has Patke ever landed? I keep hearing about how great of a recruiter he is? Who the fck has he landed!??!?!?!!?
I agree

**** we’ve seen on this staff before hand before that experience is sometimes overrated. Banda, rumph, Jess Simpson we’re first time position coaches at the college level but yet they have coached at an elite level since they’ve been here. The 2 guys know the system and if we hit on our recruits down the stretch AND most importantly richt hires an oc I will Be more than okay with this. This is a much better scenario than having richt completely fvck up and hire a uga retread like John janeck, Willy Martinez and or tommy tuberville or someone like that
Elite is pushing it dude. Jess stepped in to a well oiled machine with a beast DT and a great overall roster. Banda and Rumph have done good but I would fall well short on calling it elite and their recruiting is decent but very very far from elite. This whole defensive staff is very inexperienced with absolutely no vet to fall back on

apples and oranges.

Alabama has 4 defensive coaches:
  1. Defensive Line (AHC)
  2. Defensive Coordinator / Outside Linebackers
  3. Co-Defensive Coordinator / Inside Linebackers
  4. Defensive Backs

And Saban probably has hands all over that defense. So you might as well plug him in as a coach on that side. Richt I'm sure will not be doing the same as Saban.

“He now has the spot and money to hire a big-time coordinator.”

Is there any actual evidence that this is something that will actually happen?
Because unless I missed something all evidence is to the contrary.

The evidence is the obvious money left on the table. Whoever Richt hires next, he will have a lot of money to pay. So Richt is either reducing payroll or hiring an OC.

Probably should have hold off of the "elite" title until after next season. Our LB play was stagnant for the most part, no one made an impact at S besides Jaquan, and we already had beasts at DT and DE so Simpson's job wasnt the toughest.
I didnt Name patke so I dont Get the lb mention.

Our safety and cb play overall in all 3 years have been great so credit to both of those 2 coaches at those respective positions. They have put their coaching on their tape and can be given that label imo. Simpson coached at an elite level this year, we will see what he does without Gerald and possibly joe Jackson but I definitely like what I’ve seen out of him.

And the notion that no one stood out at safety other than Jaquan is just false especially his year. I truly Believe redwine had the better year out of the two and he’s been very solid in 2018.

They don’t look at or care to take the time to look up resumes..remember most here didn’t like the Diaz hire at the beginning..and many here wanted him on the hot seat just 13 months ago..
