Bama Game: Pre Camp notes from their side

My biggest concern about stopping Bama is our LB vs Young's legs. He isn't as elusive as other dual threat QB but vs our LB he won't need to be.

I do not see how we would hold up over the course of four quarters against their Oline and their backs. They are all massive and NFL caliber. While I like our oline this year I do not see how they hang with bama's dline as well. If we stay within 20 I will frankly be impressed.

Miami can't fall behind early. This is an obvious statement and generally true across the board, but it is specially true for this game. If Alabama goes up early they can rely on ground game to wear out dline and LB. But if Miami goes up early, it puts pressure on a QB and OL that isn't that experienced.

Miami DL may not be as great as last year, but they are still talented. I also expect different looks and blitzes to try and confuse Bama further.

Realistically, Bama is favored and should be. If I had to bet my life on this game, I would most likely bet Bama. However, I've seen people here expecting Miami to get blown out and shut down. I don't see that happening. This is a talented Miami team. This is also an experienced team with a lot of older guys. That helps in college football. There is a path for the canes to win and I don't think it's that crazy to think they have a legit chance to win.

How do you know this?

None of their running backs has ever gotten burn and they’re replacing most of their o-line and Neal is changing positions

What? TS is head and shoulders better than couch. TS is the number one cb by a mile. Even crazier he’s been playing over weight because he was a star at Uga , he was in the 220 range. He’ll be 205-208 by game one. Him locking dudes down his one game at cb playing at that size is nuts. He’s called the freak for a reason.
I would love to see us move couch to nickle. He has a knack for getting to the QB on blitzes.

My money is still on Harvey starting , then seeing where chantz is. I see mccloud as a specialist but starting isn’t 0 percent. There’s a chance , but regardless we’ll be rotating, this won’t be like last year.
I read this as "this won't be his last year" and an image of McCloud with gray hair, still on the team, flashed in my mind

UF played Bama and lost by a touchdown, just to get ran off the field by Oklahoma in the bowl game. OSU beat Clemson by 21 and got blown out by Bama. Matchups is everything. Although I'm not saying I'll be fine with a blow out, because I definitely want us to win this game, not have a "moral victory" by keeping it close....but regardless, if we lose by 40 points to the #1 team in the country...it doesn't mean we can immediately throw the bag. Getting blown out in a championship game when you know exactly what a team's Strength is, is a lot worse than getting walked in Game 1 when you don't know for sure what to expect. Lets not forget Bama will be running a new offense, completely different scheme, and they have Nick Saban.

Nick Saban himself was a JAG of a Coach his first 4 seasons at Michigan State. His 2nd year there, they got manhandled by Tom Osbourne and #1 Nebraska (55-14). That was MSU's 2nd game, and Nebraska's first game of the season...yet they still got dog walked. When he was at LSU, they were good enough to win the Sugar bowl in 2001, then in 2002 they got blown out 3 times, and didn't beat a single team with more than 8 wins.
Saban found the bag game at LSU and never looked back

Question is if Bama would bring out players' talents. There are a lot of athletic mofos on this team who it hasn't clicked for, for whatever reason. Brooks, injuries... Chantz should break out, but who knows... Elijah Roberts is a DE chasing down folks on returns... TAC, Hall who Saban was desperate for. All of this talent, but can the coaches make the talent shine?

why is it that Hall is in the position he's in but Surtain and Campbell are in the NFL? Hall looked no diff from them in terms of potential prior to getting here.
Saban does have misses like Burgess Becker....maybe he dodged a bullet with Hall and we got screwed who knows

He probably watched the highlight tapes of their HS SR seasons. I mean it's not hard we do that here to project players. Your acting like these kids have no tape out there. They recruit at a clip we wish we recruited. There is a reason they are a machine and NFL u right now. They reload simple as that.

Y'all drinking that good good in this thread. I feel like I'm the only person that thinks there is no way we win this game. Every other game we should win. This game is nearly impossible imo I'm thinking 43-13 38-17ish bama. Being realistic here. It won't be because of coaching it's the horses in the race

He took the time to break down the tape for four high school offensive linemen, the most difficult position in football to project and determined they were NFL caliber?

Lmao.

Ok

I had score at 45-20, if somehow we can score 30 I'd be impressed even in a loss.
