Those of you that say "this is Manny's defense" are technically correct. But, so what? Just because a coordinator plays the Tampa 2 doesnt make him Tony Dungy or just because a DC plays the the Bears' 46 doesnt make them Buddy Ryan. C'mon guys!
It might be Manny's framework but it's being executed differently. Manny never played this much zone defense and Manny had a strong track record of making adjustments when he was defensive coordinator.
Manny is the head coach and ultimately his future depends on how both sides of the line perform. I see signs of Manny's input. For example, why did we come out in the second half and play significanlty more press and less A and B gap blitzes? Did Baker adjust on his own or did Manny tell him to adjust? I don't know.
For the record, I HATE soft *** zone defense. I'd rather lose getting beat deep by playing man-to-man. The defense we saw in the first half was death by a thousand cuts and has reared its ugly head too often under Baker. Something has to be done and that ultimately falls on Manny but to blame it on his framework of defense seems misplaced.
