Backup Left Tackle

I'm practically as concerned about Darling not improving his play as I am about him sustaining an injury. He was underwhelming last year. We need him to solidify the left side of the line if we are to compete for an ACC title.

You don't know anything about football.

Darling getting beat around the edge was all James Coley's fault and had nothing to do with him being a first year starter at a new position.

Whatever. Darling got beat like a drum some games last year. Not hating on him, and it doesn't matter if some of it was on Coley or if he was a first year starter. I'm cautiously optimistic about the o-line, including Darling. They all have a full year under their belts now. But Darling needs to be a lot better than he was last year.

caneinpsl I was just joshin'

I'm very optimistic about the OL because we're 25th in combined starts, new OL coach, new S&C, a competent OC.

Also helps that they're going up against a talented bunch of DL. Somewhat alarmed by the poor output running the ball in the first scrimmage but I'll wait and see.

You have yet to refute any of my points using even BASIC football knowledge.

you don't understand the game and what a coaches responsibility is.

you're one of the people who thinks we are just supposed to line up and beat people and it just doesn't work that way.

That play of the Clemson Dlineman using that pull and jerk move to gain inside leverage on the Lineman is Coleys fault.

No OC worth his ******* would leave kaaya out to dry like that.

You can run that type of play with Deshaun Watson because if A DE took an inside move against him he would break the pocket and make the DE pay for not keeping contain.

When you play against a qb with little to no threat to run it allows defenders to pin their ears back whenever an obvious play presents itself.

Coley lines up in 5 wide sets with deep routes and a pocket qb. No rb in the backfield tells the dline that its an obvious pass, the personnel groupings tells the defense it's not a screen. Good coaching and watching game film lets the defender know kaaya doesn't have the ability to escape the pocket. Dline takes an inside move, kills the olineman and kills the qb.

a smart OC knows his team and its weaknesses. Yet it's Darling and kaaya's fault that Cloey set them up for failure?

Its one thing to be critical or skeptical.

But you're just wrong because you're not looking at the big picture.

The good thing is.... the oline will practice against a plethora of different rush moves going against Kool's boyz on that Dline. They will be fine

Any more insight on this after scrimmage II?

Saw a depth chart recently that had Hunter Knighton as the backup at LT.
